Yeah there seems to be an issue, the file stops at random % when building the image.

Yeah there seems to be a 2GB limit on CDI.

I tested a hole load of things, BootMake makes any file size but doesn't create it correctly if its over 2GB.

I even tried making a GDI version but it errors out because the file would be to large for.....

well I am a idiot and stumbling around with Familyguys Tool.... Rocky how did you make a 3gb CDI? maybe its a 2gb item limit? so if each video was under 2gb it would work?

It seems to be if the CDI is over 2GB the tools that make it CDI4DC corrupts the CDI image, CDIRIP give an error if you try to extract said CDI, can't remember exactly what it was.

damn... so either A i need to really figure out what im doing wrong with Family guys tool... or B find someone who can make or edit a CDI image tool...

Or we can kill the CDI idea and go straight to GDI

GDI doesn't work either, GDIBuilder errors, something to do with the image being to large for CD-Media or something.

As for Selfboot, after making the image, you need to mount it with deamontools (old version, as new version is a trial) & then use discjuggler to create a new CDI image from the mounted Selfboot.nrg.
(note his tool checks for duplicate files, so copying say 01.sfd to 02.sfd won't work as they will match, just add 00 to the end of the 02.sfd file using a hex editor)

Also I couldn't find a version of an old version of deamontools or discjuggler that work on Windows 8.1

Maybe there is an intrinsic limitation on track/session size in the gdi format. It was designed for CD so maybe they though 2GB was enough...

so again im stuck... if you want to give it a try familyguy there is a link above that has both the working 1.7gb CDI and the 2gb sfd just replace the 01.sfd in the media folder and give it a go... Im pulling my hair out lol... had my hopes up for a 2 prong attack... figured double to Triple packs on a single CDI and whole Seasons in GDI.... but that dream is getting crushed...

(UNLESS you can view the SD or Hard drive using the browser disc lol... I need SWAT on this and maybe someone who can toy with that on GDEMU and USB-GDROM lol... if you can view the Root or a FOLDER ... I could easily build a whole website that you load on the SD card or Hard drive and you just boot the disc to auto direct you to the Root of the drive)
The above is a hopeless reach and please can someone figure out a way to OVERRIDE the 2GB limit....

    EDIT:
Great News Seems BootDreams Limit is not a 2GB CDI but 2GB files... so we can make a 4GB CDI... now we need to figure out how to get the GDI option working for TV series. (this is all assumptions... Currently building my first CDI that is larger than 2gb and its taking forever... but hey its working.)

Edit: Looks like i spoke too soon... the image was created just fine... took a while but its a 3.5gb CDI... NullDC wont boot it and I have no way of testing here... So i am uploading it onto the folder I have linked. idcer.com.CDI https://mega.nz/#F!kUMjFDIZ!A_l_vmRbzlY85v3eQV8AjQ the file should be uploaded in the next 30min calling it a night.... Hope everyone is having a happy Halloween

The bigger CDI file doesn't work with GDEMU either, just the smaller one. I think we may have better luck with Dreamshell after looking into it with an HDD.

Well, it appears that image files bigger than 2 GB won't work with GDEMU according to the creator of GDMenu, maybe it's a rule for any reading device either physical or emulated, and if that's so... we may only have a chance with creating a new app or module for Dreamshell that would work as a Media Player and reading from a hard drive disk. Which wouldn't sound so bad but it throws the whole idea of creating a single image containing a lot of videos, unless it's under 2 GB.

well we could create a Disc that has all the menus and EVERYTHING on it... images music menus ect... and all the links point to file locations... but that still requires some help from SWAT and anyone who can see if DCEMU and usb-GDROM folder maping shows up in the browser as a directory.

I maybe wrong but isnt that how the MENU iso works for DCemu?

Another shot in the dark would be hosting a server...but then we wouldnt need a CDI at all... just build a Dreamcast Compliant website and give people the link... but would Def need a donate button and other funding options...

You can make GDI manually. The .gdi file is a text file with list of tracks.
Just make one big ISO file by mksiofs (with GD LBA of course), split it to few files (track03.iso, track04.iso, etc) and type the track list to .gdi file with calculated LBA.
But this image seems can't work with hardware emus (due to hardcoded values) and maybe software emus too, but you have a chance get working it on DreamShell.

So, you can try use DreamShell ffmpeg player without any images (just put files to SD/HDD), It's works not very good for now, but as alternative...

So the gdi plan may not work.... how about viewing directories from the browser??? Could planet Web or dream passport see file directories on the dreamcast?

Nope... It's not supported for GD-ROM, and of couse impossible for other devices.

Well looks like We have just 2 release Options... Option #1 just 2gb or under CDI Or just create a Website or have a way for people to access their local PC with their browser.

Edit: Website would only work for BBA users and then We wouldnt have a file size limit just stuck with a 1024 width size limit. so still going the CDI route with 1 film... im still trying to find the sweet spot for Edge of tomorrow... can anyone suggest settings? im currently encoding with 3200 max bit rate 1650 average bit rate and minimum 448. looks like my CDI will be under 2gb will find out later tonight... but if anyone can suggest settings or software would be awesome... im currently using TMPGEnc 4.0 express
