It's one of the few systems without number on the back.

Wow... what a way to make an :smtassho: of yourself.

Hey Ground Zero, what was it you said about the red bio hazard not having a number? Something about a re-release. I don't think mine has a number and it always made me wonder. Is there a way to tell if the R7 is the limited one you show without opening the box? Don't think I ever opened mine when I recieved it years ago.

There are both red and blue Biohazard consoles without number on the back.
I heard of 50 red "Claire" systems that were sold by D-Direct - those units came with the jap. Biohazard - Code Veronica "perfect" edition game (how is it called in japanese - "kanzenban" ?) instead of the regular one in the "red case".
There were also some blue Biohazard Dreamcast given in contests - those had no numbers but the "red case" disk. Don't know how much but i expect something around 20 units without numbers.

The first release Regulation #7 Dreamcast comes with a special Regualtion #7 GD (pachinko games) and a box that includes massage-materials (no joke!). Some early units were also equipped with a black BBA.

Ok, that's what I have. When I saw that Code Veronica in the box instead of the red one I was worried.

I guess I'll have to open it up then. :smt042

A little side note on the S.T.A.R.S - dreamcast:
There was actually a package which contained both the Claire and the S.T.A.R.S - Dreamcast with matching controllers, VMUs and the Game: RE:CV as some kind of special edition version (looked like it was packed in red leather or something like that), it was offered through an import shop some years ago for 600 US$. (gamechoice, at that time they also had the seaman DCs, I´ve often seen a Mazora for sale there and several other versions, don´t forget the Sakura Wars limited with fitting VMU).

At that time I thought the price was ridiculous since the DC was sold in Germany for about 100€ or less at that time, if only I had raked my cash together and bought that damn set :smt042

Btw, do you own the complete Hello Kitty packages? I.e., with fitting clear colored mouse and keyboard?

Got any kind of link to support this? Sounds a little more than fishy.

I'm sure it was just a Biohazard bundle that was sold at GameChoice. Biohazard consoles were sold seperately and it was supposed that you'd never know which console you got before opening it. Of course HongKong ripp-off shops opened boxes and sold the blue one for ridiculous amounts.

I've both Hello Kitty Dreamcasts complete but there's no mouse with the units. It's "just" a blue/pink console with color-matching keyboard, joypad and VMS.

The blue Famitsu-contest S.T.A.R.S. DC is limited to 30 pieces and the only thing special is that it has no numbered sticker on it's back.

D-Direct gave away 50 special red Biohazard units approx. one year after the regular sale. These console also have no sticker on their back and were bundled with the Code Veronica Kanzenban version instead of the red LE version of the game.

For the Regulation 7 DC there was a really rare first release and a MUCH larger second release. The first-release version had an extra gadget box with massage materials + a special R7 GD with pachinko games on it. Some of the first-release units are also equipped with a black BBA.

Hey Ground __asm__(xor r7,r7,r7)! ;-) Awesome collection you got there!! Very very cool!

For some reason I find the R7 mysterious and interesting. Barry Ling's pages (www.sdk-team.com) mentions that the R7 was released in the beginning of 2001, and then there was a second batch in September 2001. I have also read that the R7s sold through D-Direct were shipped with a black BBA pre-installed and that this batch was limited to 500 pcs.

Can you confirm this? I have actually never seen a R7 BBA.

Excellent collection , and the first time I have seen the Toyota release . Thanks..

As for the Maziora (or Mazyora Hepburn / Kunrei differences ) it was signed by a famous Japanese GP racer Tadahiko Taira , who's team Taira Racing were sponsored by Maziora paint at the time.
I was lucky to obtain 002/500 from a collector in Japan. The console was untouched , as new and came with documentation from Taira Racing and Tadahiko Taira's signature.Sadly I was offered a ridiculously large sum for the console , had a moment of weakness and sold it to a collector in the US .

Another sad point is a hardrive contaning around a gb worth of pictures recently died on me. And within these albums were several pictures of the Maziora .Still I think I Bert Hardy has a few .

Good luck with the collection... (^^)V
