You have a physical switch in line to change between CSYNC and Composite Video? Can you post a pic of your SNES Mini internals with your mods?
Yeah, there is a switch. I bought it off of ebay like this. It is getting csync directly from the chip so possibly that is different than yours? But like I said, it works perfectly fine using csync directly into the xrgb-mini so i'm thinking its probably not a problem with my console. Also both of my n64s act the same way. One n64 is set up like the snes mini with a csync/composite video switch (bought from the same person) and the other I modded myself and it is wired up normally with cysnc to its correct multiout pin. Here's a couple pics. I was having trouble getting a clear image with my phone camera: http://imgur.com/qj8GLwO http://imgur.com/a3UkxZm
I'm very interested in one of these, but I have just one question that I haven't been able to determine for sure, here or on shmups's forum. I have all JP21 cables running to the XRGB Mini. Is this a problem when using this switch and will I need the SCART versions? All of my cables have come retro_console_accessories and they are all JP21 wired. If I can use the JP21 cables I have, I will definitely take one of these the next time they're available.
Yes, it's a problem, JP21 is incompatible. It requires different PCB and I don't have any plans to support it.
Yes it is different. I got CSYNC from here: Read this page: http://retrorgb.com/snesminirgb.html He mentions that people have had issues using CSYNC directly off the chip.
You have that backwards. The CSYNC spot in the right picture is what is causing issues for some people and grabbing the CSYNC signal from the chip directly is the fix. That's how I have mine modded.
Damn. I guess if I got JP21 -> SCART adapters for all my cables, then I would be able to use your switch. All the switches I've found are all for SCART. Are there even JP21 switches available? I haven't been able to find any besides the Selecty 21 and that's only for 3 and really hard to find.
Yeah, it may work but it'll look damn ugly . I haven't seen any JP21 switches as well. I guess hardcore Japanese people don't have problem switching JP21 manually each time they want to play different console.
Yeah, that's another appeal of your switch. It's sleek and awesome looking. Ugh, why did I buy JP21 cables. >.< Thanks for answering my question!
Bad news guys, I can't find straight PCB SCART sockets anywhere . On farnell they are "no longer in production", in my sources these are sold out also. Currently I have 6 assembled switches remaining and maybe parts for 8 more switches.
Thanks for looking guys. That page is a bit confusing. It seems like that isn't it though as you both are getting csync from different places and it works for you. Seems like mine just doesnt like the Ninteno csync signal (without the LM1881 turned on) for whatever reason. That stinks. I guess not much demand for these since everything is switching to digital, so they stopped making them.

These are last resort as they are extremely expensive. Those black ones I got were $0.5 each. If I'd pay so much per socket, switch price would increase by $30 solely because of sockets.
Those are pricey as hell and plus you'd have to import from the UK sellers. Mouser has them in here in the States from the look of it and pricing seems much more reasonable. http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Kycon/K-SCARTX-024/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMuVmbMdVqM8/BcfDWp5a5XB
Wow, thanks! I don't know how I missed this one, I checked mouser yesterday. It doesn't have mount holes, but I think I will manage to mount it without them.
Doh, that's confusing. Strange that he says "The step below (and picture above) shows you how to get CSync directly from the video chip." but then suggests wiring directly to the BA6596F. Looks like they are non-stocked. Hopefully they will prove easy to get though.
