Nothing is so rare that it will never be available again. Banning people does not help because new accounts are easy to create. I have sold lots of stuff and I have seen it all. Charge fair shipping as a seller and complain when you don't like something if you are the buyer. For niche items like video games blocking and reporting buyers is not helpful. If they want it bad enough they WILL get it from you or someone else. Ask people who have sold thousands of items, shipping is negotiable. Some sellers will not negotiate, but it is very likley they will. If they don't thier feedback will tell the tale. Successful sellers prevent themselves from being scammed, but do not anger thier customers when disputes arise. einbebop44 do you have buisness on ebay? I have a both personal and buisness accounts, please if you are an experienced seller who has both online and retail buisnesses let it be known.
If you would have posted that first, it would have made more sense. What you posted made it look like "you" decided what shipping should be. Then again, it comes down to the wording of the shipping costs.
:smt043 :smt043 :smt043 :smt043 :smt043 I am sorry, but that last post was just too funny. eBay is not a bargaining place. You bid, you pay, you get the item, the end. What, so I can just knock $5 off the price because I deemed it "unfair"? That's just a big sack of crap. Oh gee, I really don't want to pay $100 for this PS2, I think I'll only pay him $80. Wait, wtf he didn't send it to me? Why not? Dispute! Dispute! Con-man!
New accounts may be easy to make but you have to look at who your clients are for your items also if the guy keeps doing it you have to protect yourself as a seller from paying more in ebay fees. Also, when you list an item you take shipping and rice of items in to account in this guys case it would appear in order to maintain a certan price offsetting cost to shipping allowed him to do that. While you may not like it it does make logical sense with ebay raising their rates. Bottom line read the auction and never assume anything. If it is unclear ask questions and you will not be in this situation.
einbebop44 you clearly have not had any buisness experience on ebay. Closing auction price is NOT negotiable. Shipping prices can be questioned and changed. Ebay wants new users, if sellers all started charge excessive fees on shipping ebay will lose buisness. You would be suprised how many people over charging shipping got lashback directly from ebay. Shipping fees affect ebays growth so they DO make an issue of addressing buyers concerns. I have seen ebay intervien with negotiating shipping rate for sellers and buyers, so don't speak of things that you know nothing about. macwest you must have been lucky up to this point. Colegues of mine have had to stop selling on ebay because of seller fees for angry non-paying customers. All it takes is one person to drive all you auctions up with fake accounts for weeks on end. You can' block last minute bids form someone you haven't considered blocking. There is lots of software out there that makes this possiblity a real danger to sellers. Don't assume buyers are just stupid kids who don't read auction terms. I am suggesting this buyer complain and stand his ground. Without having seen the auction or the sellers account that is the most accuarte advice I can give.
In a perfect world, people would fill out truthful descriptions with clear pictures, and bidders would just read them and bid happily, but it doesnt happen. Even feedback is misleading. I'm glad I found a ps2 for $44 including shipping..but then I get fucked by some retard that thinks it's funny to rip people off, then get paypal off his back by sending me a BS package from a P.O. box Honestly, I dont care if it's listed in the auction or not, I'm never paying $100 for "shipping". I'm sure that the USPS would like to see that receipt. I've been pissed off so many times paying $20 shipping, only to see my games shipped in a damn bag with broken cases because the shits sent my stuff media mail, which is probably illegal. Ebay is a game, and you have to learn how to play it. I'd also like to see the link to this auction...I wonder if it was a 1 day listing...
that sucks on the PS2. I would have reported it to the cops. since the weight of the package that is listed for shipping could be proven to show no PS2 ever existed in the package.
wtf are you talking about? The dipshit obviously hijacked someones account and held many auctions and from what I gather, all were ripped off. After I won and paid, the negative feedbacks rolled in and he quit ebay. I finally got ahold of him from a free email yahoo/hotmail. Then he sent me a package from a PO address to get paypal off his back, which is another issue onto itself. Apparently Ebay/Paypal doesnt give a damn when numerous people get ripped off by one seller. I would have thought they'd notice shit like this, at least they say they do. I'd like to see how your dumbass would somehow be protected from that. Please enlighten me...I apparently need it.
Would not work IMO. All they would have to say is their shipping program prints labels with an "up to" weight amount. This happened to me once where they claimed all items were shipped, but they were not. I had it weighed and could prove they were not in the box, but that was their excuse.

:smt043 :smt043 :smt043 :smt043 :smt043 :smt043 My eBay feedback I know eBay. Do not even attempt to suggest that I am some sort of n00b at selling or buying. I check eBay every damn day, know all the major sellers--I know about doing business on eBay, probably more than you'll ever know. This is a fact. I don't care if you have more or less feedback than I do, I know how the system works, and I know my shit. Do not suggest otherwise. I was drawing an analogy between haggling over the auction price and haggling over shipping. The analogy: you can't do either. Don't be ridicuous. Only if shipping is ludicrously expensive and wasn't clearly listed in the auction do you have a case. "Wow, since a Dreamcast game only costs $1.29 to ship, I'll just take off $4, because that's fair!" That's not how it works. You pull that shit on me, you're getting an Insta-Negative (TM) and an NPB for being stupid. I'm plenty amicable, but I'm not a fucking bargain street market where I'll trade you 5 DC games for 10 cents and some yogurt. Obviously it doesn't take $6.95 to ship a Dreamcast game, or $22 to ship a single DC system. Nor does it take $4.95 to ship a power cord. Or $4 to ship a CD. I don't know where the hell you've been, but almost every damn person on eBay over-charges on shipping. In these cases, it's anywhere from 50% to 300% more. Which is a lot. But does eBay do anything? No--why would they, these people are platinum powersellers. eBay/Paypal could give about two shits and piss about their buyers. Unless you've been massively ripped off and it's blatantly obvious, they'll turn a blind eye and claim "they can't do anything about it."
It's been my experience that it's easier to get a response from someone selling out of his bedroom than a "power seller" who has eveything automated. If this is just a guy who wants to unload his Xbox, but doesn't want to pay ebay for the extra 25% on items $100 and above, you may be able to convince him to ship it cheaper. But yes, he is within his rights to demand you pay the full $100. It was listed that way in the auction. What if he like, lives in the middle of the desert or something, and he has to drive 50 miles to the post office? To ship from his location actually is costing him a hundred bucks. So he has the right to decide whatever kind of shipping price he wants. If I was you I'd ask him nicely, but good luck.
I agree with NFG and most others here. If the shipping was listed beforehand and you choose to bid then you are the one obligated to complete the transaction. If you didn't look then it is your fault. The way it seems to me though from your posts is that you knew what the shipping was and you chose to bid anyway thinking you could force his shipping price down with Ebay policies. If that's the case then while you might think it's noble to scam the scammer it pretty much makes you lower then him. The seller might be a dick but at least he was up front with his prices and gave people the choice. Finally why don't you give us a link to the auction so we can see for ourselves?
einbebop44 I'm not getting into a pissing match with you. If you've never applied for a buisness licence or statred a your own coporation, we are on two different planets. I gave the guy some advice to ease his anguish. You may disagree and what I sugggested will not always work, but I put on my newbie hat. I sympathize with him and gave him advices from that perspective. I an able to see his side of it. If I were a seller I wouldn't like it but if he feels cheated he should try and do something about it.
You were the one who is claiming supreme ebay and business knowledge. You can have this thread, its getting silly
God. Based on the scamming the scammer thread in Off topic (Very old, I think the first one, actually) There replies are often riddled withn typos and bad grammar, as in getting excited that they are going scam another poor sap. :smt043 Edit: I have a "Devilish" amount of posts, now. Muhahahahahahahahahahah :smt096
