It would be understandable, but it's basically the English word "no" in katakana - the standard Japanese word for "no" is iie (いいえ). I haven't lived in Japan for over a decade, so my Japanese is pretty rusty (and it wasn't exactly great even when I was living there...). Incidentally, did you know that the left disc in that Live kit says "Beta Edition"?
The bit that's visible on the right disk says "takitto" disk and under that "no- taisen raibu" (something like "brain competition live") The second document down on the right says "beta program kit <something> information. So I guess it was a kit that was supplied to the xbox beta testers...
I want to take the system out to see if it's anything special. From what I can see it's a standard system. I'm happy with that unit in there though, it runs pretty well.
I've seen a working display console before that was a standard black but the manufacturing date was the earliest I had ever seen for an Xbox console. I forgot what the exact date was other than it was still 2001.
It be interesting to see the MFG date, this is a more later unit though (not the one with the duke arms, sadly) It has a Samsung Drive so my guess is that it's a 2004 unit. I'll double check and run an exploit. I tried to take the system out but my screw driver is too big to fit inside the box, the screws that it uses are Torsion Square Recess SQ2 which take a bit of force actually so I'll need to get a stubbed shaft and try and remove the console then.
Yes they are secured from under the unit, and slid under the plex cage. I'll take a photo now. Since I repaired one of the controllers, the stick was snapped. The arms are secured to the controller by a brace held by two screws, and the arm is then 'plugged' into the controllers by the Memory Unit sockets. These are made of rubber and take a bit of force to remove but doesn't take much to disassemble it all. It will take two people to help line up the screw holes under the chassis, since it's very awkward to line up. Why I only have 3 screws in and not the four, was getting dizzy
Loving the collection HEX1GON - might have to hit you up for some pics of your Australian variants for an ongoing project of mine. I always really liked the Xbox store display units. If space wasn't an issue...
Thanks man! Sure, if you need any information I'll be happy to help you You're telling me about space, the unit JUST fit through the door lol.
Maybe I'm just too blind to find it, but did you post any posts of the whole unit yet? Also: Great find! I wish I had an original Xbox kiosk with the glowing logo. Did you have these kiosks in Australia as well? Those are the ones I was most familiar with in Europe. (see below)
Thanks man! I haven't ave, only because it's not where I want it to be right now... We only got the model I have in Australia, US got both I believe and it seems the kiosk you pictured with the pretty ladies was only in Europe. Though it would be interesting if it was also in the US.
Wow that's a beautiful collection you've got there. How does one even come across them Xbox debug and development kits? I'm jealous of your connections
