People are more than willing to help, but the evidence doesnt add up at this point. We've all been burned too many times. Offer up the proof, and I guarantee everyone will be singing a different tune.
Why have you done that? How does make you look in a situation like this, especially to the (potentially reluctant) buyer whom you are selling this piece to? We're not being trying to be condescending or pricks here, at least I'm not. You must understand how often people have come forward with this famous prototype piece, not only to back down and hide in a corner after showing reluctance to simply provide hard evidence for something that they claim to have, but are even found out to have fraud the entire thing just for a few laughs and a ban. Based on what you have provided so far has sparked suspicion among these people. Just saying. I called you out for lying because of the image you've provided us, which has been proven to have originated from a pre-existing video. Why you decided to post such an image, should you be telling the truth, is beyond me. Giving that the same situation happens occasionally with prototypes of any kind, I feel this is a practical and reasonable forum rule. Can I vouch this to the admins?
Of course, you can make a video of gameplay, then of course we will believe you. You know, people bidding at your game are willing to spend money, you need to be willing to give proof.
The rule needs to be revised slightly: Users claiming to own highly sought-after and/or unreleased games must post INDISPUTABLE proof of owning the material in question within 24 hours. All pictures need to be at least 320x240, and 72dpi. Its is 2011 now, and if you actually know what a prototype is, do research on said prototype to determine that is it rare, and claim to own it; then you posses the necessary problem solving skills to figure out how to make an iso / take a screenshot.
Well I know a guy who wants to release Jet Moto 4 (unreleased beta), and he has posted undeniable proof, even videos, and tries to cooperate, but he is not familiar with isos, and at first he didn't even asked that beta, developer sent it to him after he asked him just a few guestions. I say we need to ask polite and try to not troll him, because not everyone with rare unreleased material is skillful with programs like these.
well if he posted undeniable proof, hes fine. The problem is people claiming ignorance to circumvent bans / appear to not be fucking with us. My point is that if you are SO adept with using google that you can determine which prototype you think you own and do research on it, then you are also smart enough to figure out how to take a meaningful screenshot in order to support your claim. The rule I'm trying to propose is an elegant statement of the old, overused internet quote: "Pics, or it didn't happen" On the Somethingawful.com forums, they have a similar rule called a "Toxx Clause". If you post, and you say: - you WILL do something if... - you WILL do something by a certain date then you must prove that you did that thing when the condition is met or the deadline arrives, or you are permanently banned. We need something similar, but replace "WILL do something" with "CLAIM TO OWN a rare proto", and replace "peramently banned" with "permanently banned by ip"
I agree we should be a bit patient, and even if it is a scam trolling him won't help. Who knows, this could be what so many people have been waiting for for awhile now.
This thread sort of reminds me of this one on Capcom Unity: http://www.capcom-unity.com/residen...26172501/Where_is_RE_1.5&post_num=8#472539521 Here's what the "owner," showed:
I don't have the most observant eye on prototypes, but is that something that couldn't also be ripped from psm video? Edit: Or you're just being pure sarcastic.
That was the point I was making. Anyone can use existing material from something and whip it up as something aesthetically convincing.
Keep in mind that the unlocked debug build of beta 2 still hasn't leaked yet or beta 1 with Claire, then there's also that later near retail IGN version with Claire that has debug info printed on the screen for x, x, z co-ordinates etc.
well ebay and pay pal is set up nice , so ya buy it and its the wrong thing just make a claim and you will get your money back simple as that.
not if the auction makes no direct claims as to its content, in that case if you wind up not getting what you were hoping it'd be, you have no recourse
I really don't understand why you guys have to be pricks to this guy, bitching about how the screen looks fake won't get us any more evidence. Why would you want to provide more proof to people who are bashing you saying it's fake? I know i woudn't..
So you thought this was potentially worth 125k yet you don't feel it necessary to take some screenshots or show what the contents of the disk might include?! Why is it that 1.5 carries so much baggage and drama?!?! I have to a agree with what has been said already; if you seriously want to sell this then you will have to put in a little more leg work and prove that what you have really is 1.5! If you can do this then I am sure you will have people falling all over with sealed copies of chaotix and new dreamcasts; me included!
This is exactly what I was going to write, damn! Seriously though, if he really knew it was a beta, then search's up biohazard 1.5 and finds all of the ridiculous prices people put (which means nothing really) and how sought after this unfinished game is, you think he would put some effort into getting it to work until the title screen. Hell, if I had this knowing it could possibly be 1.5, even if it was scratched I would try to no end to retrieve data. If it could run It wouldnt even film it with just a camera, I would record it crystal clear through my TV tuner as well and play through it for 10 minutes. Then make screenshots out of the next 10 minutes of me playing. Then put it up for sale with said screenshots and video. You know why someone doesn't try to get any in game pics or a short video of it even starting up and then crashing? Because its fake.
