Yeah, it probably wouldn't be too different, but still. So you saw one on ebay? :O I wonder how much of them were made, probably not too many. And on second thought, I'd even more love to get something like a Model 2 proto or devkit, that thing's always fascinated me with its boatload of DSPs, to me it embodies the strong-arm approach to 3D rendering more than anything else!
I would agree with Pikkon about the Alpha dev kit. I also think my most sought after xbox item would be a prototype faceplate with the rubber USB doors.
I found mine, the FM Towns Marty, X68000, MSX Turbo-R, and Super A Can, and they weren't that expensive (or rare).
Hardware : Hudson Tetsujin PC Hibino PowerConsole PC-FX Developpment system Softs : Strider SGX Lords of Thunder FX Kuma Soldier Tengai Makkyo III Namida PCE SCD/ACD RPC Genjin
For me, my "holy grail" would be a RDI Halcyon and the "games" that go along with it. The runner up would be an Entex Adventure Vision and the games that go along with it.
My list: Anything at all for Babylon 5: Into The Fire that is playable SMW prototype featuring the racoon tail Police Academy for NES (if it ever existed outside of some marketing materials) Any betas, code, assets or otherwise from any of the Command & Conquer series games.
Holy grail would have to be: DTL-H500 target box ( and l00k r@r3 controller ). PSX arcade ( system 11/12/10 zn1/2 etc ) dev kit Seriously wanted would have to be: DTL-H2700 software Playstation v4.7 developer cd's Playstation Keyboard/Mouse & modem interface and software to go with it.
Super FX Mario was never at beta stage, not certain that a final engine was coded in the first place - it was purely conceptual , demo at best. Super Mario 64 2 was never a game nor did it reach such status under this title. Again, it was a concept with one demo level and the rest of its ideas were the center-focus of later games. Again, there is a prototype of the original demos somewhere, but so are so many other unheard of titles. No beta, not even Alpha, just as Super Mario FX.
Oops, I intended to type Super FX Mario Cart Project. You don't know to what extent any prototype or concept reached. Again, it is all pure speculation and half truths taken from vague responses to interviews. For Mario 64 2 I refer to the N64 rumour, not the GC demo. It really bugs me when people shoot things like this down and act like they are the experts on a particular wild rumour, when ultimately that is all it is. /soapbox
not shooting down anything, just being technical about what is a prototype, an alpha an a beta really. Enough information of SM64-2 has been known from recent Shigeru interviews (Galaxy), so I m just tailoring what has been said, never claimed to be an expert in something I ve never layed eyes on. besides, it's always fun to tease you because I always expect the next witty comment and sharp reply
Well, do tell us some more about those! I've always been wondering why every f*ing system released around the mid-nineties had some kind of modem (released or announced), such as the Saturn Netlink, Megadrive Modem, Neo Geo Mahjongg + modem cart, 64DD Randnet but not the most ubiquitous one, the Playstation! Oh and if I had anything else to mention it'd be whatever Sony intended to do with the system's "parallel I/O" port!
Didn't they say something along the lines that they had started some tests but ultimately it didn't feel right? I d like to know more about that title myself!
