The other thing to note is that pretty much ALL those modem accessories were major flops for the companies who released them (dont know about the Neo-Geo one though but the Megadrive and Saturn ones werent exactly star sellers AFAIK)
the N64 modem and the Chess (N64 JP only) game for the n64 that had a built-in modem are still interesting and not that wide-known. Same goes for BioTetris (N64, JP only), which had an ear-clip that could sense your beat-rate and adjust the game's speed accordingly
The chess game (shougi actually) is pretty cheap and popular in Japan. You can probably get it for less than 15$ on ebay.
now that I think about it, I'm wondering if nintendo ever done or think about making a Shindou Mario Kart 64... that would be really great, since they made waverace and mario64.... why they didn't realese an shindou mario kart
Shindou mean that the game is compatible with the rumble pak. Nintendo realesed shindou version of super mario 64 and wave race 64 in japan in 1997. Since mario kart got released in early 1997 i'm wondering if they have made an shindou version of it also..... who know..
Hardware: Emulator SE (SNES DEV Kit) Software: Chrono Trigger US Fac. Selead, Resi 0 N64, FF7 alpha N64DD Death Trap NEC PC (First Square Titel ever) When someone sell it, contact me ^^...
I think having a Holy Grail which almost certainly exists but people just haven't got concrete proof it does helps the mystique.... For me it's the St Etienne or Sampdoro Dreamcast Pod. (we know the Arsenal one exists - I have it!)
He might be meaning that Square FF demo that just had 3-D characters. I believe I saw pics of it here somewhere. It was more proof of concept then anything else.
My grail would have to be the SNES Emulator-SE. As far as fanciful stuff that may or may not exist, maybe some of the older builds of Super Mario 64 that they had screenshots of in magazines.
The computer in question is the NEC PC-8801, although it's also on the Fujitsu FM-7, both on 3 * 5(.25)" floppy discs. Although Wikipedia says so and it's mentioned on a few websites, I can't find any evidence that the game existed on the NEC PC-9801 computer. SquareEnix website is useless as they don't mention anything they did pre Famicom... This is probably because Square weren't independent until 1986... It's the first game to feature the Square name, but *technically* it is not the first Square game.
Mine would have to be: Playstation - 10 Million Model Playstation - Video CD Player Playstation 2 TOOL Hopefully one day.
I read in an interview with old mate Ken, that one of the concepts for the PS3 was to have it styled in the same manner as most component hi-fi (AV) hardware. I'd love to have one of those prototypes. I'd also love one of the original PSP concepts that appeared at the GDC in 2003 (I think). Much sleeker (if less practical) than the version released. Dave.
