Dunno how long it'll last. Today work sucked though...my squadron is primarily civilians who were furloughed. We seriously were operating at 33% staff out of about 150 or so.

I can't believe our government has stooped to this level of stupidity. I'm disappointed we the people have let this happen.

Wouldn't mind if it stayed shutdown for a while. Our government has become ridiculously big.

It's pathetic how America have been brainwashed into thinking that they need to pay for extortionate medical insurance. People complain that they can't afford to go and see their doctor. That should be a basic right. For decades, the American governments have brainwashed them into thinking it is a good thing, and that free medical care would be bad.

And yet, because of the bullshit brainwashing, when a government comes along that want to make changes for the better, to give the people CHOICES, and access to free health care, they bitch about it. It's half because of the crap they've been force fed over the decades, and part because of those archaic prejudices some Americans have that are partially racist and partially based on some crazy bible bashing beliefs (e.g. abortion rights). Absolutely pathetic!

I hope that the Americans here are sensible enough to see that Obama's plan is a GOOD thing. Look at England - the NHS may not be perfect, but we would be complaining a WHOLE lot more if millions of us couldn't afford to go and see our GP when we're ill. And if you're still thinking I'm wrong, read this:

I called out of work when the government shut down yesterday. Since there isn't any money to pay game wardens at federal lakes, I went fishing and had 9 rods in the water (normally 4-6 to a person).

Except the government still gets paid - the federal workers don't.

    Wrong.

    • You have to qualify.
    • You have to apply yearly.
    • You have to be over 18.
    • You have to be a single adult or not have children.
    • You have to not qualify for Medicare.
    • You have to have a monthly HOUSEHOLD income of under $1,053 if you're single or $1,422 if you're a couple. I do believe that minimum wage in Maryland is $7.25 - so working 40 hour weeks is going to put you over that threshold. As a couple, you'd basically have to only do 20 hour weeks each to be eligible.

We've had a National Health Service for 67 years here. It may not be perfect, but IT WORKS. That's why we're ranked as the country with the 14th most efficient healthcare system. You're ranked 46th. You shouldn't be arguing over having a new healthcare implemented, you should be ashamed that your current one is so poor and that you don't allow your poorest citizens access to basic medical care.

There should be NO qualifications for medical care and you shouldn't have to keep applying - everyone has a right to have it. And if you're rich, why shouldn't you be taxed? You know what the answer is in that case? KEEP PAYING FOR PRIVATE INSURANCE!! No tax, then.

Go and read the link I posted.

I get it lol, their is always a work around. If you make less than 15.800 you automatically qaulity for pac. I have insurance agents that can vouch for that. If you make more you can get like 5 percent *subsidies at 44 thousand my friend makes 20000 and gets 87 percent.

Edit: the usa also has 18 of 20 of the topped ranking hospitals #1 being right here in baltimore MD, Johns Hopkins.
