GodofHardcore, I would advise you to edit your post.

I only see people mocking you because of it.

Um, Good luck with that, GodofHardcore...

I have two myspaces, one for each of my musical projects:

    http://www.myspace.com/pyractycnaxticide
    http://www.myspace.com/scarletempyrean

The first is just me, noisy electronic stuff. Second is some kind of metal. I'm the drummer.

They're beginning to prove useful. The first one just landed me a spot on a nine inch nails tribute release recently, and the second one has gotten a few people to try and book us for shows.

...this has shades of previous posts that ended in being clamped down with closure, and rightly so

A really good mate of mine in his mid 30's has a MySpace account that he has filled with the most heartfelt ramblings and material about his failing relationship with his wife. It truly is a piece of work, but as it's pretty serious stuff I'll refrain from posting it here. That was the first time I really thought it carried some credence.

I've got an account, but find that it is far too time consuming. Each time I visit, I delete previous posts, edit them and change the layout. Never satisfied with it or what it represents. Clearly it has a use and my cousins Blog around Europe was the only way we managed to keep in contact during his 2 years trek with his now wife. On the other hand, you run the risk of becoming embroiled in some nonsense such as marrying a 13yr old or whatever.

Not really for me, I prefer a cup of coffee & a chat with an old mate across a livingroom rather than pour my emotions or unprocessed ramblings onto the "InterWeb" lol - I also find chatting to people via IM far more rewarding. Made a few mates from AG that way and even met some in real life, which might be happening again if Diddydonn and his good lady are North in January.

I find facebook useful for the "yo whats up" and posting of links to friends or possible scheduling of something to do with them. Easier to let them find it at their convienence rather than call them and find out that they're driving at 80mph with a cup of coffee in the other hand.

    ...which has actually happened before.

What I find rather amusing is that most people actually believes myspace what created by this guy tom (even when he doesnt know shit about web design) and the fact that the entire operation was planned as a ripoff of Friendster, all by a new company that was actually a second phase of one the biggest spam corporations of the Web1.0 days, eUniverse.

Tom is actually a type of PR, nothing more. He doesnt even logs into his account: it is known that theres an entire team (around 40 employees) that control that account instead of him.

About facebook, the story behind that is less interesting, but theres some rumors about this guy zuckerberg: apparently he stole the idea from some if his friends when he was actually helping them with that project.

Maybe 10 years from now somebody will make another PoSV movie with these guys instead:lol:

I was in a situation like that while driving a SUV...

Affortunately a school full of grade schoolers absorbed the impact!

Man, I posted Goatse or something on Tom's thing as a comment, and watched it stay there for a full week as it was buried by comments. People must have just looked at it and thought nothing. I dunno.

Oh wait, no it was a photoshopped pic of two gay guys (no actualy weiners or anything) in a shower and toms head was photoshopped on one of the guys heads, man it was hilarious.

I had black Jesus because his facial expression cracks me up every time I see it, but I needed something new so I changed it to that. Thank you, SomethingAwful.

I'm not religious at all. When people ask me, I just tell them I consider myself "spiritual."

Well most SN sites have a very "light" GUI, since most of the code goes into the member management system and other functions.

That doesnt means these sites are state-of-the-art in that area either, in fact most should be improved, specially myspace.

You do realise that Mr. Kippling doesn't actually make exceedingly good cakes don't you? Well, I don't think for a second that anyone over the age of about 12 really imagines "Tom" is really at the helm of that account, especially as the second you open an account he says "Hi!" - lightening fast reflexes that man!

All automated etc and as authentic as the cheese on top of a BK burger. I really don't think anyone believes Tom is their mate? Do they?

Yeah, same here, Festerfly. I have both. Facebook takes up most of my time (which isn't saying much). But Myspace has really gone down-hill. Seems just about every time I log in (maybe a couple times a week), I have a "friend request" from someone who wants to show me pictures of them naked, but they can't post them there, so they want me to sign up for an account on some pr0n site. :banghead:

Facebook is okay. Its nice to see what old friends from high school/college/grad school are up to, but past that, its kind of a waste.

It is nice in helping remember people's birthdays though...

What I find really frightening with all these sites are the millions of little girly girls who slap on their mothers make-up, grab a digital camera and find a bathroom or bedroom mirror to pout into whilst holding the camera at such an angle as to suggest they actually have a worthy female figure!
    Please <BARF!> stop! :icon_toil
