Yeah, Parris, I think I share your sentiments. Also, I just noticed this a few minutes ago, which I think is absurd. Facebook now offers a "virtual gift" service. Its exactly what it sounds like it should be. You pay $$$ (real money) as in $1 (depending on the gift), to send a virtual gift (a picture of a duck, cat, moose, or other animal) with a message attached.

I have no idea who would consider spending money to send someone a virtual picture of a duck...:noooo:

Well duh! with such a "successful" job, who would have time to manage an account like that?

You're getting the point buddy: this guy tom is not like jobs and the woz that created the Apple computer in a garage, he's just a PR spokeperson.

Myspace tries to sell the idea of something created by one guy (tom) while it was nothing but a big operation made by a former spam company, and even with all the people that were involved the entire concept is just a ripoff of friendster.

This guy tom doesnt even works with computers, I think he has a degree in arts like dubya...

I've got a Myspace and a facebook account, and i've never actually been on either site:lol:.

The missus is hooked on them and decided i need accounts in case any of my old mates want to get back in touch, so she went ahead and opened them for me while i was at work.

Don't see the point in them really.

I've never used myspace before but facebook is fantastic, I use it to keep in touch with old friends and organise university outings and events.

Phone people, they never turn up, invite them via a facebook event and they get there early with bells on.

Tim Hugall on facebook if anyone wants to add me.

I use both to keep in touch with buddies overseas. Why are all the vote options negative?

Godofhardcore, I don't know why you keep posting that shit online. It's almost like you want to get yourself locked away. I don't know how you can say that you are a man of God. The stuff on your myspace page disgusts me.

The only people that seem to use Myspace in any decent way are musicians which is good but if you are over 25 (or your mental age is) then there doesn't seem much point in social networking sites, it's a bit like blogs, most of the time they seem to read like a 5 year olds diary, no tell a lie most 5 year old blogs would be more interesting to read.

Dude most fans of these sites talk like that, and arent afraid to say they spend most of their time there.

About the rest, well I wanted to put some humour to the options, like the typical "big deal!" when you're the only one thats isnt into something.

Overall, if you check the comments you'll most users opinions here actually do match the available options.

Not sure what you are talking about actually? I think the comment was meant to be a statement relating to the fact that you have few positive statements. I don't care about the "language" used on the top response...

...forget it lol! I'll let Taucias argue the toss for himself. ;-)

To be honest I'm having trouble finding any positive comments about SN sites:shrug:

OK, well for me it is a good way to keep in touch with old college/uni buddies that for whatever reason I have lost contact with and would find it awkward to email. Adding someone to your friend's list or leaving a jokey comment is a good way to get the ball rolling.

I don't use my accounts to meet new people though

I'm with you on this one mate, I use my Facebook account purely to keep in touch with friends who have moved overseas, folk I haven't seen in a while and people who I've met on holidays.

It serves a purpose for me so I use it - simple!

The way I see it, looking for a sex partner on a social networking site is like a mystery bag. Be it psychosis, schizophrenia, STDs, or anything else, you never know what you're going to get.

There is the (exponentially low) chance of meeting a normal, attractive partner on a social networking site, but if you meet this criteria then is there really any point in looking in the first place?

I've got an account at a facebook-like german site. Almost every third student in Germany is registered there (about 1,5mio by now I believe), so I had to.
No MySpace though. I can't stand it for unknown reasons.
