In terms of yen, how much are those clothes? [average] (going there someday)

Another question: How much is the market of the Harajuku fashion? (Research) [exclude foreign brands]

¿Gothic Lolita, Visual Kei and all that stuff?, it depends on how much you want to spend, I've seen some cheap things at Putumayo and shops like it, but you can go to other shops, where they can stab yourself with a 1 million yen dress or even more. And no, I'm not joking, I have friends who like all this stuff and have some items from Vivienne Westwood and Sex Pot among others.

Simple, cheap, cute yet eccentric... so I'd say... not so much. $100-$500 I guess...

    @1 Million: XD WTH 1 million? ($10000?)

    You're missing two zeros (1000000).

    On a serious note -

My personal spending at Jackrose, Buffalo Bobs, Civarise (before it moved) Magic cinq, Kawano et al

    I dress like a host/Kabukicho
What is known as a blacker. That is the technical term!

    20000 Up for a jacket Max - 80000 for a leather one
20000 around for jeans Max 25000 for Tornado Mart
    2000 up for T-shirts
10000 up for shoes 70000 for knee high boots!
    5000 yen up for underwear.......

So yeah depends on your budget. I spent 1500 dollars on a wallet. And there is that diamond encrusted skull stuck firmly to my finger...

Harajuku is a big place. Most of the fashion outside the shit-muncher tourist Takeshita street is mainly for men and expensive.

Foreign brands are basically double the domestic price.

Harajuku fashion is NOT just visual Kei, loli et al. It is where your high fashion is as well. As well as underground rock stuff.

bhl88 - you should be a bit more specific on what you want to know. I do not know exactly what info you are looking for.

Hee Hee it is a one of a kind Bloody Mary tri-fold wallet. Made of Alligator skin and with the ridges of the beast lining up on the back of the wallet. Oh and all the parts are made of 925 hand carved silver, including a one inch floral wallet chain loop. Guess how much the matching wallet chain cost.....

I may even post a couple of pictures of my new Silver and leather gear. I do love it. (And items are named on my insurance!) I work hard and I haven't got kids, so why not enjoy it. I know the day will come when I can't. My Girlfriend is already hinting that I should be saving for the ol future. So my time is running out.

EDIT - http://www.bloody-mary.jp/ check out bloody mary in all their glory. On topic check out their shop in Harajuku it is an amazing ruined church! There is stained glass, stone crosses, and curious bones all over the place. Worth a visit!

And you can walk mere feet from Jinguumae station and be surrounded by brand label outlets. Don't expect to pay less than 50,000 yen for a shirt.... and of course up to 10x that if you want.

The main difference from these shops in Japan and the same outlets across the world is Japan rarely mark things down (and they're always more expensive).

Any expensive clothes I want I get on trips to the US.

My personal opinion is that the Japanese labels are somewhat tacky, overpriced, and will be way out of fashion next year. That's just me though... they never fit me either due to my long appendages. (I'll let your minds go wild w/ that one).

fashion is a waste on money if you ask me. All a normal guy needs is one or two nice sets to wear when he goes out.

Not if he wants to pull anything worth pulling.

Why not do a little research before asking questions that will be answered on the first google hit? I'll give you this one: Go to xe.com

The sort of woman that would only go with you because of what you wear isn't worth having in the long run if you ask me. Great for a few nights of sex but that's about it. I'm no fashion whore although I do have a few nice pieces for when I go out however in my younger days I never had a problem with the girls even if I was in my everyday casual crap. These days though maybe I would need help with the latest overpriced fashion

Yeah, times have changed! Especially in Japan.

I have seen more and more guys wearing finishing powder ( = perfect skin) eyeliner and mascarra. I do on occasion and moisturise, anti-aging cream, mild fake tan every day. Japanese girls these days want guys to care about their skin AND fashion as much as they do. This may not be so true out of Tokyo, but this is defo true for Tokyo and Osaka.

Gaijin can still get away with a lack of fashion, simply because most gaijin in Tokyo dress pretty badly.

But my Japanese friends at uni who are gamers, never get a second glance from the ladies. Some of them may be good looking, but unless you have some fashion or brand behind you no uni-girl is going to give you a second glance. Then I have this other guy, total troll, but he is out there in Chanel t-shirts fending off girls with a stick.

Still I am pretty damn egotistical and really enjoy buffing myself up. I love it when I girl comes on to me in an unusual location or when I can bask in compliments. Or when someone just wants to have their picture taken with me.

My long term girlfriend came up and talked to me just because of what I was wearing (racoon, sheep and rabbit fur jacket - yeah I know I am a sinner) and it was while she was stroking the fur that I plied her for her number. And we have had what can only be described as a good run of a relationship.

So yeah, fashion does not have to be a waste of money. If you do not enjoy the attention, not worth it. If you are a vain, solipsistic metrosexual kind of guy, go for it.
