I've been forced to remove the 360 forum two times this month over problems.

    1. How do we create constructive, respectful atmosphere?
    2. Moderation needs to be more strict?

I am open to suggestions on how to allow the 360 forum to function without
    constant penis comparison.

Go for it, keep the Halo kiddies out.

    1) Stricter Moderation
    2) Threads require moderators approval
    3) Keep it to help and learning..

Its gonna come down to adding all the posts to the moderation queue and thats gonna cause the threads to move very slowly.

There will be a problem with duplication as the first post of a thread might be moderated and accepted at 1pm but for the next 4 hours no one might moderate them and then everyone will of answered the question so we will have 3-4 duplicate posts from people.

Why not just increase the warn level of the trouble makers? Resulting in temp bans?

Well the moderators haven't yet talked about warn levels. Its certainly something thats fairly interesting and could be used to good effect. The difficulty is keeping it consistent between moderators and peoples perception of what is over the line and what isn't.

Bring some more people into the moderation team..
People who can moderate in a shift situation..
(To keep moderators on enough to prevent trolls/rants)
Or have a system where if enough people dislike the post, it will be removed?
Self moderation is usually the best moderation.

The mod team is large enough as it is for the site and the more moderators there are the more inconsistencies will be introduced. Also why should we be forced to babysit people who cant respect others.

I think the only real way to go about it is to use the warning system however whatever we do its never going to keep everyone happy and to be honest i get the feeling that people are out to cause trouble just to keep things in their circle as it seems we provide too much friendly information for their liking.

Im happy to start using warnings but until we are told to so i don't think we will start. Its also a case of if and when we start that it has to be implemented on the board overall.

I think stricter moderation would help immensely. And actually going through with the moderation rather than just bluffs, which is what it seems most of the time it is.

Warn/infraction systems usually work wonders, and can be set up for tiered temp bans depending on how sever/common the warnings are. This usually weeds out the flaming within a few days/weeks.

Sadly some of the "flamingest" members are often the ones who contribute the most.

Sadly that is true in a lot of forums I visit..
The people flaming do indeed contribute the most..
That's why the warning system should be used wisely, and not just issue warnings on people for simple flaws. :flamethrower:

Stop caring about it being civil or not. No one cares except you and hl718, neither of whom should really care.

maybe make being able to post in that forum a privilege?

If u start harassing people your out, and that's that.

If u keep the trouble makers out, then there arn't any

If you keep the "trouble makers" out, then no one who can still post knows anything. The trouble makers are also the ones with knowledge.

Well if thats the case then we just have to have the board open to the people without knowledge to try and help each other and learn. Im sure theres more places then the select few who are constantly rude to learn things from.

Why not like the sales threads limit it to people that have made 50 constructive posts in other forums, maybe just hide it until they get 50 posts. It might mean that newbies can't use the forum, but it'll stop idiots who been banned from coming straight back and you can probably weed out the idiots before they even make a post to the forum?

Don't you have a court in boston to be sentenced at instead of
    posting here?

Clearly you haven't learned a damn thing.

Or maybe if the trouble makers were not ass' to everybody then their wouldn't be a problem, if the trouble makers do not like it they can keep their mouth shut, no need to say something if your not going to help or just want to start stuff.

Just because someone knows something that another person does not know, does not give that person the right to treat the other person with less respect. Everybody was a "noob" back in the day.

So I say if the people keep causing the same trouble over and over, their negativity out weighs their vast amounts of knowledge. There was a time when people actually wanted to help, and hopefully one day there will be again.
