All My Consoles... sounds like the name of a soap opera! One I might actually watch, at that. To add to the list of durable systems, I once dropped a PSP on a concrete floor from about 5 feet. The game that was inside broke open, but the PSP itself still works perfectly. I was able to save the game, too, by transporting the disc to another case. Strange, when you consider it was made by the same people who made the PS2.
Na, no smoking in school dorms ;P Dust isnt that bad either. The inside of the system is clean as can be, and I give the outside a good clean too, so I dont let it cake in dust or anything. You can see quite a bit into the inside of the PS3, and its all nice and shiny.
I bought a Xbox 360 in May of 06. Probably died somewhere around August or something. It pissed me off and it was the first time I'd had a console die on me like that. Previously when I had problems they were related to dirty cartridge contacts, either the cart or the port on the NES. I've had a ton of systems, some bought used so god knows what they were subjected to prior to my ownership. But of all of them the 360 I bought and treated extremely well was the only one to just die. About the Sega CD model 2. I bought one used and my brother was so nice as to drop it on the concreate outside when it arrived in its shipping box yet it still worked perfectly. The systems to worry about are those with optical drives, and anything that might have been built poorly or with shitty components or like the 360, has poor thermal design and build quality. There's always some systems that are defective and it's just a fact of mass production. But the 360 seems ridiculus, although I've only had 1 die so far.
OK, one guy who likes the PS3 more than the X360, that changes everything... Beyond Littlebigplanet, R&C, MGS4 and maybe Killzone (if it doesnt sucks) I dont see many exclusives in the PS3 for me...
Just because they aren't exclusives doesn't mean multiplatform games will do poorly. Games like Resident Evil 5 and Rainbow Six Vegas 2 should do well on PS3. The way I've seen things so far is that the 360 I like to get multiplayer titles. PS3 seems to have more single player games I'd play. I just think people tend to be too harsh on PS3 these days. Earlier on it was sucking but it's not that bad anymore. The main problem I can imagine would be not as strong of an online component as 360. That's a big deal for me.
Only real problem i've had with my consoles is the L button on a PSP breaking after playing too much Ace Combat. One of my old PS2's crapped out on me too but I think that may have been my fault.
But then why PS3? The reason why you cant compare consoles using multiplatform games (beyond overall quality) is simply becos you have the same stuff on both sides. What makes the decision of which console you should buy is the exclusive titles, since thats what you're getting "only here" and not there. Anyway, sorry if my writting is even more cryptical than usual, is just that I got like 2 and a half hours of sleep last night and honestly I cant even think straight right now...
Yes, Little Big Planet! I'm so pumped for this game. Playing this with friends looks like it's going to be a blast. It's a bummer it's a PS3 exclusive, only one of my friends has a PS3. How can something sooo cute be just on PS3???
yeah, but the online should get worked on over this year at least. While it hasn't been around as long as Live, it's free, so there'll be people around to play with for even old games most likely. I had a 360 for a year, had like 30 games, and played most of the good stuff on the console to date. Now that it died 3 times and pissed me off, I've really got no reason to play old 360 games I've already beat or got tired of. I'm looking forward to the stuff coming out this year, and the ps3 looks solid, while the multiplatform stuff sounds like it's finally going to be up to par with the 360 at least. There shouldn't be many games that are 60 fps on the 360 but only 30 for the ps3 anymore.
I have seen both have problems. The 360 is known to have problems with over heating and I notice the ps3 freezing up, while I was in there store. I thought to myself I really wonder weather these new toys are worth buying at that price, Noooooooooo!
Because the 360 has great exclusives, yeah right. Halo, Mass Effect, Project Gotham...and..uhh..yeah.
if anything, Gears of War is in my view the best exclusive title on the 360. That game has deep gameplay mechanics, although short. It has remarkable replay value too, especially co-op.
Hmmm... this is odd. This is like, the 5th board I've been on today where people have talked about their PS3s dying.
Shadow, the multiplatform titles don't just get thrown out the window though. Many people that buy PS3s and only have that will buy those games for it. So it's not like they don't count. People say PS3 has no good games and it's just not true with multiplatform titles alone there are good games.
I know, but I'm talking about the PS3 being good or bad, just that it lacks enough exclusives as to choose it instead of X360, at least for now...
Putting it into some kind of perspective, I've had my PS3 for several months now and I know it doesn't get the same amount of use as my 360, but by this time in the 360 lifespan I'd returned two consoles. Nothing to do with whether the games are any good or not, just the hardware and I suspect that every manufacturer has it's bad items. We called them 'Friday 4:59' machines as the staff just wanted to sod off home!
Gears of War, Dead or Alive, Ninja Gaiden 2, Dead Rising, Crackdown, better versions of most multiplatform games... AND MOTHERFUCKING YARIS!
Speaking about PS3 now? Dunno if you've noticed, but there's a huge amount of activity in the online portion of many old Xbox titles, thanks to LIVE, unlike on the PS2 where servers have been shut down left'n right for pretty much everything online related (Heck, Socom may very well be the only free thing that is still alive :/). Also, doesn't come as a surprise to me that there's a sudden increase in PS3s dropping dead or getting "issues".
