What does it matter what I think? The jab was more or less at the adjective "the greats". The subject was done to death a while back. Guess you had to be there.

So ignore the evidence that professional wrestling is fake because the one time someone did a real piledriver on him the guy died? ok sure.

He enjoyed games? urm... great... wow, my opinions of him have really changed... honest...

I always thought of pro wrestling as carefully choreographed soap operas for men.

It sucks that that guy died in the ring. I'm not much of a fan of pro wrestling, though, to be honest.

Whats with the hostility? I really don't understand how a topic like this could trigger someones "OH FUCK, WRESTLING IS FAEK!" response, especially given that its about the death of a guy. Jeeze guys, show some class.

Yeah, I agree with what Borman said. If only GoH didnt start this thread, no one would be acting up like they have been.:fresh:

None of this had anything to do with GoH starting the thread, it doesn't even have anything to do with the guy dying, it was about the blind fandom and belief that something as blatantly staged as pro wrestling being "real"

Who even said anything about that? I think 99% of the people who watch wrestling realize its staged. I don't know why people feel the need to continue to point out that its staged, especially in a thread concerning the death of one of the wrestlers. Its like going into a thread when someone prominent in the gaming industry dies and saying "wow, he sure wasted his life on games, huh guys?".

Exactly, none of us are saying they are really punching each other, or that somehow the results aren't determined. I think we all realize that, but it doesnt take away much of the athletic prowess of the wrestlers. Just like I would consider a professional dancer to be athletic, a wrestler is equally as athletic, with the risk of major injury and crazy stunts added to it.

MIB: I would say you are wrong about your assumption when it comes to MMA and pro wrestling. This I am now going to say will stir shit up, but if I have to be honest. Then Jeet Kune Do is an MMA with a philosophy on top of it. Since JKD incorperates all the things you see in UFC. And yes there is even BJJ in JKD . So if it hadn't been for Bruce Lee, then we wouldn't have had MMA as it is today. But then again that is my point of view, when it comes to MMA.

Oh my it was also GoH who made the old thread about Chris Benoit.

Who here has demonstrated believing this? Even GoH doesn't demonstrate "blind fandom". Crazy otaku wrestling fan maybe... but can anyone here say that's a bad thing when most posters on this site are into collecting and playing with what most people consider childrens toys? Even in Japan, the majority of adults left video games behind when they grew up.

What we have here is a wrestling fan sharing sad news about someone in an industry he likes dying an unfortunate death, and another poster making fun of him. It's a repeat performance of the Chris Benoit thread (which I've now read the first few pages of) before it was found out what really happened. One-line jabs or not, most people consider it very inappropriate when death is involved.

Wrestling is fake and video games are children's toys. What business does someone who collects children's toys for a hobby have making fun of a staged "sports" compation? I have no idea.

Either way, this is an interesting thread. I guess I can thank GaijinPunch for that. Without him, it'd be kind of boring, no?

And have traded them in for such things as 14 hour work days, 9 of which are spent playing Freecell to avoid having to go home.

Which poster was making fun of who? I'm making fun of GoH? Hate to disappoint. There are far more softballs GoH throws out there (and I'm pretty sure he's the first to tell anyone) that anyone could capitalize on. I realize most Americans can't get sarcasm. You English have no excuse.

Ah I enjoyed reading GPs posts, they are very funny especially the sarcasm.

Although personally (and I'd still rather not) I rather see a load of Japanese women wrestle then some guys that look so pumped up steroids, that accidently touching their sweat would make you fail a drugs test.

Guys this WAS about the tragic death or a person. All this nonsense it out of hand, and the thread closed.
