Guy packs it in NEWSPAPER, in a tiny box almost the exact size of the machine. The machine is made of heavy STEEL.

    Guess what happened???

    Arrived destroyed.

    So angry.

As I would be! Was it at least insured? I've never seen one for sale personally.

It's basically a heavy metal beige cube. The unit is from 94 so it's
    packed full of boards.

Nothing salvageable. It's a Yamaha made unit (1x)

If its a steel cube, the inside should be relatively fine?

Get a refund, then maybe he will offer to sell the broken unit and someone can invest the time to repair it. Obvious not worth paying full price and then potentially not being able to fix it, but at the right price it would.

Bah! This happening to any device of the sort is bad enough. Even worse if it were PSP, UMD mastering would be a grail like none other IMO.

Ouch. It amazes me how poorly people pack rare things.

As a question did you ask the guy to wrap it in two inches of foam wrapping, stick it in a box padded with bubble wrap and then put that in a box full of packing peanuts? If I buy something I always make it a point to make sure they pack it properly and offer to pay for the extra packing materials, ditto when I ship stuff as I am sure members of the forum would say that I do overpack stuff just so it gets to them the same way I sent it.

What an idiot, seriously don't sell if you can't pack! Especially RARE THINGS!

    Sorry to hear that ASSEMbler.

You have a lot of issues with things getting busted in the post.

I've been known to wrap GBA cartridges in a layer of bubblewrap that then goes in a jiffy bag sent first class. I don't get how people can send something worth a tonne packed like shit when I go out of my way to make sure a £5 item doesn't pick up damage. Most of the time that's postage included.

Some people are just born fucking idiots. Even when I send a normal game through the post I make sure it's padded. It's normal nature IMO.

Quite. Were you born on 13/13/13?

I mean, you seem to have more misfortune than eveyone I know put together, then doubled, then squared.

    Harsh indeed.

(I agree with Jamtex. If I'm getting something fragile and valueable shipped to me, I specifically discuss my packaging requirements. And when I sell items, well bombproof doesn't do justice to my packaging tbfh.
