Regardless of luck, if wankers who sell items knew how to pack them, it would be a moot point.

I have lost count of the amount of times I buy a (cardboard) boxed game, only for the sender to pack it in a padded mailer/Jiffy Bag, even when I have asked them to pack it in a box!

As Jamtex said, I would rather pay more for packing than have this sort of problem happen.

Exactly. It's not like bubblewrap is expensive. :banghead:

Anyway, sad to hear that Kev. Hope you can get the refund and with some luck, find another one.

Really winds me up when people scrimp on packing. All my items are packed in a larger box filled with packing chips, also all my larger boxes are double walled. You know the best thing? Both chips and boxes are free from a local company. They don't have to pay to dispose of them and I get good strong boxes. Win win.

Really heavy items are a bitch. I've got a pstool to pack up at some point. It's prob going to be hand delivered.

Down side? Some prick complained I'd over packed items and bitched packing chips has gone everywhere. He is now banned from my auctions.

I specifically asked for it to be packed well, and it's similar to the one hi ricky posted, but older.

Well you should be more specific, he might have thought it was packed well. You should assume that all sellers are morons regardless of where they are from and spoon feed them exact packing instructions and just offer to pay for the cost of the packing materials.

Something similar happened to my PVM. Long story short: the thing was basically destroyed, he sent me another identical one for free (and actually packed it well the second time), and it arrived in (virtually) perfect condition. I think he probably took a loss from the whole transaction, though.

Could you elaborate? What would their location have to do with that sort of thing?

This. The seller might well have thought the unit indestructible because it's made of heavy steel.

The way the post treats stuff important, too. I once had a package sent to me where the sender wrote on the box: "Please don't throw!"

You never write 'DON'T BEND' on packages or 'DON'T THROW' etc. It's like having a button that says "Don't Press". Just slap a Fragile sticker on it.

I was replying to Yakumo's comment.

Anyway, people should know that there's no such thing as overprotecting.

PS: Glad you got the refund Kev.

You're lucky it was wrapped in newspaper. I bought a ps3 on ebay once, It arrived in very beat up shape. The ps3 fit in the box so tight, the box was the shape of the ps3 itself. I opened it up and there were plastic parts everywhere. I did get a refund.

Sorry for you though, I realize the thing you bought is much more rare than any ps3.
