just gotta point out that you come across as one of the most ungrateful and childish people on here, you started a PM war because you accused them of encrypting the game? who the fuck cares? if they choose to encrypt it thats their business, until you do the work yourself just shut up and accept what you are given nicely, seriously some people will never be happy and think the world owes them something, seriously grow up

No data tools at all can access the files. Hover over the main file. Its exactly 140MB. While when extracting, you get only 40MB.
    100 of it is hidden.

At least, it appears to be.

First you don't get 40 MB with manual copy, but about 710 KB, second there are many games using exactly the same trick.

I'm really getting tired of this misinformation. The build was never supposed to be released! It was never their intention to hide files from the public, even if they did it's none of our business because we weren't supposed to play it in the first place. Why would they take it upon them selves to hide something from people that was never meant to he shown? It just doesn't make sense and you're actually complaining about it.[/FONT]

Yeah you're right. Are there any other examples in 1.5 though? If you look at Site A you can see an example of models being "incorporated" into the background however they used ADT masks instead of actually having the enemies on the floor in the room. Granted Ashley won't wake up off the floor and turn into a zombie (or will she! Mwuhahaha!) however it looks a bit wierd going from one room and seeing rendered characters in the backgrounds and then going into other rooms and seeing ADT masks of actual models, it just doesn't flow very well.

Although yeah there have been examples of it in other titles.

I think there were no examples like that in 1.5 because the game is basically unfinished even in the trial disk. Maybe they would have added corpses that way in the end, like CAPCOM really did for the sewers with the green shirt zombie holding one of the eagle/wolf medals. I mean, they had the real-time model sitting in the RDT, but eventually decided to incorporate it in the render itself while also disabling the model for good (even if it's still in there, unused). They could have used a mask like 1.5, but eventually decided to move the model elsewhere (I suppose) for practicity's sake. The finalized result doesn't look much out of place and it's kind of hard to tell the prerendered model was originally a low-poly mesh.

Exactly, We're not supposed to have the damn thing in the first place. They're releasing their build and the original unmolested build. So why would they bother going to any trouble to hide anything, and who the fuck argues and complains about it?

That's just a retarded thing to do.

Yeah. This is the most funny thing about it. Someone else clearly paid through their nose for this thing, said they'd put it out there "when it's done", had a cock up happen before their planned release, yet people have the balls to complain and nag.

Tell me about it, when I read that ccrogers15 started a PM argument with the 1.5 people and called them rude I face-palmed so hard I broke my own nose and bled all over the person standing behind me.

Have you ever looked at the Chrono Cross CDs ?
Do you even know how many playstation games deal with their datas?
Do you know what encryption means ?
The only encrypted game I know is Vagrand Story. And like any protection, it was cracked.

@djelaba Lots of psx games contain protetction that hide or compress (not encript) files in the iso.
Also i think you have confuse the libcrypt protection or the anti mod protection that are totally different things

You're right, my hacking skills are weak compared to other hackers, but at least I do my best and I share it with the community.

If it is true that you have extracted all the files, why you do not share it with the community? at least the files that belong to capcom work?

The key word for not releasing any files is "personal curiosity's sake", plus it's straightout illegal to release commercial/copyrighted assets. In other words, I don't intend in any way to do a thing with 1.5 as IGAS is already taking care of it and in the best possible manner. Aiding side projects that usually lead right into nowhere isn't going to help that much, to be real honest.

Sometimes, releasing one's own research/findings to the public requires more effort than you'd think. It's not like everyone writes huge ass HOW TO HACK.EXE RESIDENT EVIL 2 FOR DUMMIES books when they work or do notes. Some just does it all in their heads, others have their notes in their own language, some just jott down random post-it notes for stuff ... (Like back in my studio days, I had post-it notes all over my desk and screen... ANALOG SOLUTIONS FTW!)

When someone approached me to hear how I'd dealt with the text in a game they were translating, which I'd also done some preliminary work on a few years prior, I spent a whole night just rewriting my old notes (which mainly consisted of random values and words such as "ass", "tit-farse" and "c*ntload #1-3" written next to them) and whipping together a clean patch that'd show the difference between vanilla and the modified assets (but without the intro scroll consisting of a pile of random ASCII porn and such) for easy comparison and identification of anything I hadn't kept any notes on (and, to be honest, going by people's inability to identify mdec/bs frames in that 1.5 ISO shows what level of hand holding most people in the RE community needs.

OK, n00b-tip to anyone who still thinks that data is encrypted in any way what-so-ever: Open one of the files that they're likely to've lifted from the BH2 Trial Edition or retail in a hex editor, highlight the entire data segment of that file (or just the opening header of one, such as an mdec/BS frame) and do a search for it on the 1.5 ISO. BEHOLD! (and, seriously, if cooking up that idea is beyond your grasp as a 1337 hacker; back the school bench)

I guess this stance is reflected in your fan translation projects too, seeing as all your released translations are patches and not redistributions of the full game. Only content one could argue about is whether or not the translated text/graphics are somehow infringing on something or considered a derivative work.

The part about derived work is always funny, since my Innocent Sin translation solutions were avoided like the plague on purpose by Atlus when they officially ported the game to the US. Many of their translations sounded funny probably because of that, tho they do appear creative in many cases (like Hanakoji becoming 'Kozy' or 'Cuss High' instead of Tom's 'Kass-u-gay-ama'). And let's also not forget about Tales of Phantasia and BEWARE OF THE KANGAROO!

That's just a case of someone blindly approving a spellcheck correction in MS Word 2003, though. The FIGS set for ToP does not contain the same mistake. Kangaroo aside and the unusual bit where the EU and US version's menus differ (+battle subs in EU version), the translation is pretty solid (although totally highlighting how boring the original script actually is as far as dialog and readability)

You mean the mirror room which isnt accssesible even in debug mode without patches?, that's obviously a place holder.....there is many placeholder/joke things in the game that the team has already stated wont be in the final. What right do you have to complain really?.....you are getting the game for free, do you know how long people have been waiting to play this and you are trying to fuck it up because they aren't working to YOUR standards. stop being selfish and pay for your own build then
