    lol !
FYI, compression isn't encryption at all. Just because you can't uncompress data doesn't mean it is encrypted.
And no, I am really not talking about libcrypt protection at all. In fact, this protection doesn't deal with "invisible" files, and the only encryption was with later libcrypt version.

Did you have a look at Chrono Cross ? Maybe you should go and learn some stuff about VFS, and come back later. (are youH4UN73D ? :D)

    Hey guys,

I am going to have some custom CD printed just for this. Also another member approached me about getting my CD case printed and he also wanted to get a manual made. Is anyone interested in these? We will be selling them once they are available. The manual will also contain some new information on the story and some more info about Leon and Elza.

The CD finish will look like that of an inkjet printed disc, but the color and definition of the image is much better. The manual I am making is going to be printed on hig quality paper and will look retail. Same for the insert and it will have a see through tray and will have inner artwork as well.

I am thinking the discs will be $3 each and it will be a limited run of 50 discs. If enough people are interested I'll get 100 or more discs made.

If anything WOULD cause capcom to issue a c&d, i have to imagine it would be someone selling repros of RE 1.5........

I'm looking forward to that era. A popularity shift to CD repros will mean fewer carts butchered.

The CD's aren't repro's at all, just a blank disc with a label printed on it.

First! I'm not haunted! And, please, don't compare me with that guy.
Second, you did not understand anything of what I wrote!

"The only encrypted game I know is Vagrand Story. And like any protection, it was cracked."
Wrong! cracked what? The only thing that cracked on VS (PAL) relase it's the libcrypt protection.
Chrono cross have a special TOC hidden in the exe that hide all the file IRC, like other SQ games (Xenogears, vagrant story ecc ecc), also the file are compressed with an LZSS variant. So I think something i know, no?
It's encrypt nothing! and that's why i wrote "Lots of psx games contain protetction that hide or compress (not encript) [do you see?i wrote not encrypt, read better] files in the iso."

Maybe I can not explain better because I'm Italian and I can' t understand the words encrypt what you want to refer, because to me an encryption it's a file that it's inacessible because it's protected with a password or other like method, so nobody psx games it's encypted, but some of them are only protected against copy and file access :p

So stay easy mate, you are not the only that know things here, and i don't know what do you refer when you talk about the cracked protection of VS? :D

It's true that hidden files on psx games is common, but it's a side effect of the game being optimised. If you build a standard ISO and code your game so that you open the file, read it and close it you'll find that it's very very slow. So alot of games have the offsets and lengths of the files hard coded in their exe. This then causes a problem, because as you change your exe and it gets bigger the files on the disc are likely to move. This makes building a pain.

To make it easy to do builds you want it automatic, so people wrote their own tools. Because the directory entries were unnecessary, it was easier to just miss them out. It probably saves some space on the disc too.

It's not very effective as a protection, because you can just hexdump the iso and find the files.

I've also seen all the data be stored in one file by concatenating them together, but again the sector addresses of the files were stored in the exe and if you rebuilt the iso and the file moved then it still broke it.

Definitively sounds like something CAPCOM legal dept. would be pissed off by.

You can pad the exe to its max possible size (should be 2,031,616 bytes) and no file will be moved as a result of the code growing bigger.

That cc guy is nothing more than a troll. Google his username and see how often he tries to troll people out of betas. Look at his very first posts on this site and It's obvious that's all he came here to do.

Been a while since I have been to betaarchive, but if I remember correctly he tried a bunch of crap there too. He even tried to create a forum to "compete" with them using stuff off their FTP. He is beyond clueless.

As I have stated on THIA, this is not a repro. It will be a professionally created CD, case, and manual. And it will be for cost, not gain on my end.

I have the final pricing of the discs at $.99 each. They will be high quality Taiyo Yuden discs. Blank discs at that. The manual and case will be more of a novelty.

So what I am doing is not illegal at all, mentions nothing of the team, and gives all copyright to CAPCOM.

Some people on THIA thought I was doing this for gain. Seriously? I stated a few times this was by the fans, for the fans, and non-profit.

    Ok :)
And I was wrong, it was Valkyrie Profile which has encrypted text, not Vagrand Story. More information here.

Well, the first post about it made it sound as if you were selling repro's. Didnt realize that they were just blank discs with the artwork on them. Even still, capcom might frown upon any monetary gain off RE 1.5, whether just for cost of production or not.

With that said.... when the teams final version is realeased, count me in for a case + disc XD

You can make all the repos you want, but there's really no point in outright saying they're not repros and not illegal. You gotta be kidding.

I mean, we all know a good majority of stuff we all do here is in the grey area, let's not fool ourselves. It just looks ridiculous. I can make cartridge reproductions of something and still claim all copyright goes to Nintendo. Does that means it's suddenly not a repro and not illegal? Don't think so.

They aren't repros no matter what you say. It's custom artwork and a custom cd tray insert. No game data is even involved nor will it. The disc is blank. All you are paying is the shipping. $5 shipping.
