The base is clearly the "40%" build, like the MZD build release in February demonstrates. Also, what people call "80%" build is more like a rough 60%, according to Shinji Mikami.

Thanks for answer. If that so, you just destroy my last hopes and illusions about IGAS project. It will never be close to original quality of prototype conception. Now, after looking on Vanila build (if that some sort of 40% build) I think, that project cant named by "restavration", its just recovering and translation of 40% build to playable condition, fixing critical bugs, but whatever they do its be just playable early prototype beta, that is so sad... Hope I deeply wrong. No athmospheric story and gameplay, no charismatic characters with their own story, no holistic "world", there only a compiled fragments and nothing more... Hope I deeply wrong again.

Then you should look at projects like Black Mesa to get an idea of what fans can do by joining pieces together.

That's more of a display of incredible effort than joining pieces together really because they basically replicated an entire game using a newer engine and added some extra flare in there for some good measure, there was no guess work involved since the game they remade was all there for reference. That reminds me though, I still haven't finished that game yet!

Both ton of efforts and some nice display of imagination to renovate the game, otherwise it'd be nothing more than a carbon copy of the original.

It will be the BioHazard 1.5 a lot of people are actually waiting for. There's a lot of effort being put into this project, and the goal is to make it a "retail quality" release. In fact they are tying the loose ends together of a fragmented mess. Have people actually seen what they have accomplished thus far? Team IGAS has created, rendered rooms which wouldn't be out of place of the actually released BioHazard 2, of such high quality are they.

The thing is, some (not all) people STILL seem to think that the "80%" build was actually close to completion. It really wasn't from everything we've seen. More complete sure, but it still wasn't a finished game, unlike some cancelled titles.

That's true. It's quite easy to glorify something which is just barely further in progress.

Isn't the story that IGAS were working with someone who had access to at least assets from the "80%" build to fill some of the gaps, and working from the 40% build gave them a much easier start given the code was bare-bones hence easier to build upon? Or is that all part of the he said she said who the fuck said part of the RE community we all love so much?

They said the had some sort of information that was beyond what was available to the public. I dont think they ever said what that equated to (could be wrong on that one).

You mean Missing Information? Where they took the HL2 leak and fixed & patched up as much as they could. I don't know if they actually added scripts/cutscenes/story on their own, I hope not because that would defeat the purpose..

Well, there is some suspicion that the bioflames guy build wasn't the newest one maybe. According to the 3 part video made by ImacWesker, cutscenes were already done too, this is led me to believe that the other 20% were the minigames and incomplete backgrounds.

I really doubt it was just a 20% missing. Mikami himself always stated that the real percentage was more like 60% rather than 80%. With game development being non linear at all and these percentages reflecting very little of the actual progress, you can easily assume that more than half of the real game wasn't even close to getting a basic implementation. Not even the "BETA 2" is that close to retail, and that was supposed to be quite close to the same rough percentage as the last version of the scrapped prototype 1.5.

Somehow he managed to contact someone that had the build, they began talking to each other via msn and the guy sent bioflames pictures. I think it was back in 1999, but he lost the contact

From what has been said, they were in contact with someone who had an unspecified number of builds who was willing to contribute information, but the contact disappeared due to leaks. Take it for what it is, it was never made clear what the source material was nor who was in possession of it, it's just one of those things.
