Unlike some crafted magazine articles, this looks definitively legit.

Lol. No better way to beat the scammers than that! If that's running on official hardware which I have good reason to assume it is, this is some amazing work. You could tell by the extensiveness of the tools they showed off just how deep they were getting into this game, but to see their work in motion is truely amazing.

I think we can safely conclude this restoration group has quite possibly the most elaborate hacking tools (or maybe they really were official, after all?) of any such project we've ever seen, and based on that relatively short video it's clear we're in for an absolute treat very soon... I BELIEVE!!

I may not have the post counts, or the extensive connections with people, but I have been around the 1.5 bioflames community since 2004/2005. Seeing this has made me almost soil myself. Honestly, I can't even begin to imagine this game. I don't care if it's the original rip from an official build, a 'remake' or some kind of fixedup hack job. All I know is that when this comes out I can finally lay all my questions to rest. The biggest being the story in 1.5. We all know the basic out line but I want to read the files (if any) and see new rooms not in screenshots, see what the dialogue is between characters etc... god damn I am so excited.

I hope no one has connection with these people so they don't fuck this up like every other 1.5 chance.

Pretty much my thought too. These guys seem to enjoy their privacy, I suppose. But it is somewhat worrysome that I've already seen people elsewhere "thank/praise" the guys trying to scam people with phony stuff for triggering this "update." I mean, this update most of all seems like the result of someone being pissed off and not really someone wanting to "show more" or "have some fun." So already it seems like people are one step closer to pissing off people and screwing up another potential 1.5 release.

Thing is though, they didn't HAVE to make a video to out the scammer, they could have just put a photo or even just a text announcement out. It was their choice to do a video, so i doubt that part of it's aggravated them. This month we have 2 new movies coming out (Retribution and Damnation) and next month RE6 is out, it wouldn't surprise me if they intended to have a video teaser go up around this time anyway.

I can confirm that the content of that video -- sans the text in the video, since that was obviously deliberately inserted by the hackers -- is real.

With the likes of Resident Evil 6, plus Retribution and Damnation all to look forward to (or not...) at the moment, wouldn't it be great if fans of the classic, pre-action style series had one last game in the vintage Survival Horror mould to enjoy as well? I reckon October 31 could make for a great release date, but please don't quote me on that - it's just a complete guess!

So this is a message from the group that are supposedly finishing 1.5 for release?

The only problem about not knowing the group that is doing this is that if the guy gets hit by a bus we won't see this.
Or if his house gets fire it's over for us (again).

Even if we knew, how would it change a thing? The project would silently disappear in either case.

Ditto, though I'm content enough just to have seen RE on GBC. If this one does see a release, then 2012 will go down as the best year for RE fans.

Hey all. I was just playing the 'Biohazard 2 beta' and I noticed that if you go into the "G Kapseru( the room that requires 2 hand prints for verification to enter) room in the Umbrella laboratories, it plays a track from 1.5. Also I think the map screen displays an earlier version of the area( it seemed quite off). I'm sure this is already known already, but I'm just wondering.

Also is this the version where the Calico 950 has the most functionality( I haven't played around with it in the final versions). I read around seeing that it's supposed to crash when you go into the item box, but it doesn't.

Was going to ask about this on Thia, but my account is glitched and won't allow me to use the verification code, my rights are all disabled.

    Cheers!

Do you mean it plays the failed experiment track? That happens in the finished resident evil 2 as well.

A few tracks survived from the development reboot, so they are still in there in RE2. If I remember correctly, the tracks should be "Fearful is no word for it", "Maximize your survival instinct", "Wreckage of the mad experiment", and a few more I keep forgetting.

Yeah Maximize your survival instinct, fearful is no word for it, the marshalling yard both sections, the underground laboratory which in 1.5 was called freezer burn, and wreckage of the mad experiment which only plays in the failed experiment room that requires two finger prints, and of course william birkin's first form battle. Actually it's amazing what did survive from 1.5 when you think about it.
