My friend had a 1+, it fucking sucked ass. Laggiest piece of shit device I've ever used in my entire life, bar the Xbox One on launch.
I will fight you. The moment they opened the gates to more people without an invite it performed fine. The only lag ever reported with that device was in the early stages when it was still invite-only
Should have learned to expect it to improve over time when it's invite only. Had they bought it after it they would have no problem with it. Also my buddy used the 6x6 lock grid and used every single node on that lock. It's absolutely terrifying to see someone do that (and worse when you're me and jump nodes to make really tough patterns).
Can we go over the "resale value" thing, as it's a bit of a bugbear of mine. If you are invested in the Apple ecosystem and only buy Apple products, the resale value is a non-argument. If I buy an Android phone for £400 and give it away for free at the end of my contract, it's exactly the same as someone buying an iPhone for £600 and getting £200 in resale that they put towards another £600 iPhone. All you are doing is offsetting the higher purchase price on the next purchase, you will never make anything from the higher resale value unless you buy something cheaper, which in the mobile phone world rarely happens.
Dude just get the iPhone. I would say get the Note 7 because all the features look really great to me, but exploding batteries is also kind of an issue. I would then say to wait for the recall, but you've mentioned issues in the software, which means even without the recalled issue you weren't happy with it. It's just a phone, you can use the iPhone for a year and if you don't like it maybe there's more Android options with blue light filters by then.
Steer clear of HTC, their their quality wasn't that high before and now it's just awful. This is HTC One M8 that was used for 4 months by a guy who managed to use iPhone 4S for two years without any case and not a single scratch, seriously. Where's the power switch? Funniest part - there was not even a single piece of that switch inside the case... You think "buy a new ribbon cable with that switch"? NO! you have to replace the whole top PCB because that cable is a part of it can't be removed at all. Broke the screen? Bad luck, it's a real pain in the ass to replace it... That phone is a service man's worst nightmare, hard as hell to take apart without breaking something. Also microphone failed too and you have to remove almost everything to get there... Insanely over-engineered unreliable piece of crap.
Still have to see my Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 (Snapdragon version) lagging. What i see is 40 hours of battery life with 6 hours of youtube with wifi or LTE on 24/7. And that's a budget phone, was about 250 bucks when i bought it. And now iPhone 5S with iOS 9.x.x - that's the lag fest. Or iPhone 6 - take 3 external batteries if you need to use navigation and internet at the same time. Now look at iPhone 7 - same shitty battery and 2Gb of RAM in a phone with a price of android phone with 6 gigs... And the worst part - iTunes...
My iPhone 6 lasts the entire day even with intense use, and doesn't lag one bit with 0 app crashes. I haven't used iTunes for years, why would anyone have to?
If you use iPhone just as a phone with a bit of internet that's ok. But when you read App Store comments you'll see that some people buy stuff and it doesn't work for them. OS doesn't crash if there's no hardware fault, bad apps do. Not a single crash in 4 months and the one and only was when i tested some WIP app i wrote. And here's the main problem of closed Apple system - it's only for consumers, not for the people who use the "smart" part of smartphone at 200%. Do do something for iOS you have to buy a developer license, and if you don't plan to sell anything, just need some very specific tool for you? I need to get home some documents from my work PC. With android phone i don't even need a cable - run FTP server, launch wifi AP and here we have 220Gb wireless 150Mbit/s NAS. It's just iPhones are for different people, who don't need something close to real computer in their pocket. But still Apple can use better hardware for the price. Especially batteries.
Here's what I use my phone for: - texting/instant messaging - phone/internet calls - social media - streaming video - browsing the web - taking photos - very few apps of other kinds (eBay, Snapchat, Google translate, Google maps, etc) Why on Earth would you want a watered-down computer in your pocket when you can have an actual computer? As long as my phone does the things listed above smoothly, I couldn't give less of a fuck.
Almost but not quite, you forgot some things. - texting/instant messaging (sexting) - phone/internet calls (sexchats) - social media (Facebook and Instagram stalking) - streaming video (on xvideos) - browsing the web (on xvideos) - taking photos (of my wang) - very few apps of other kinds (Tinder, Grindr)
I don't think widespread use of bluetooth still reinforces the decision. It's just not a step a lot of people are wanting to take for convenience, still an awesome idea. Most bluetooth earbuds are still wonky, ugly. I'm picking up a pair once it's released.
HANG ON LEMME SYNC MY BLUETOOTH DEVICE TO THE PHONE SI I CAN USE IT LIKE I WANT OH DAMN, THE BATTERIES ARE DEAD AND NEED TO CHARGE GUESS I HAVE TO PUT MY MUSIC ON THE PHONE SPEAKERS Apple is a mistake. Just keep the damn jack, or just use another proprietary port because that sure as hell would sell some units. Yeah you'd end up looking bad, but it wouldn't even be that bad of a choice as just removing the whole port.
