Yeah I've also watched burned dvds on my Xbox.
But did I miss the whole thing where you can play burned games on a softmodded Xbox?
I only managed to play backups from the HDD. Never once did a burned game boot on it.
What's an MD? Medical Doctor? :D
Yeah, I know. I upgraded the hdd in my softmodded xbox. :)

Oh, ok. So, could you please answer my question?
Can backup games burned to discs be played on a softmodded (only) Xbox?

Yes. Genuine imports work too. (not sure about the compatibility rate)
Though you can even install backup discs to HDD, there's under 8GB usable space...

Thank you for your answer. I've always played games from the HDD, I upgraded it for that purpose. Qwix+Filezilla=Xbox Bliss. Can you maybe point me in the right direction where there might be a guide on how to play burned games on a softmodded xbox? Because just burning a disc doesn't cut afaik..

If just burning a game to dvd and putting it in the xbox doesn't work for you then your disc drive may be going out or is a old Thompson drive that doesn't like to read burned Dvds.
Either that or your not using a good burning program or your using too high of a write speed. Do a very slow burn and try again, there are no special tricks to playing a burned game on a softmodded xbox.

Interesting. I've googled a bit and there's people talking about ripping games to the hdd with a softmod and playing them from the hdd, but I didn't find anything about playing burned games. I don't have an xbox anymore, had to get rid of it.

We don't need more non-nonsensical acronyms. Chip starts with a C, not a D. Stop it.

I might arrive kinda late, but I had the same problem. It seems that for some reason some games suffer from this while using component cables, like JSRF or Panzer Dragoon Orta, but there are different ways to solve this:

·Deactivating HQ and HD (480p, 720p and 1080i) in the Video Settings inside the Console Settings.
-This will cause the game to run at 480i, which is not as pleasant to the eye, but at least the image will not be distorted and it will be playable.
·Forcing progressive scan in the dashboard.
-I've found this to be the best and only option to run JSRF at 480p. Turn the Xbox on with no disc inside and as soon as the Xbox animation shows up push both triggers and both analogs sticks. This will force the dashboard to run in 480p, now just open the tray and introduce the burned disc and it should play at 480p with no problem. Note: For some reason this option doesn't seem to function on Panzer Dragoon Orta.
    ·Forcing 480p in booting.
-For what I've read in another forum in some cases this distortion can be prevented while pressing <both triggers + back + black> as the game starts up. I have tried this method but doesn't seem to work as far as I've seen.
Hopefully this might help someone out.

    Not related to Jet Set Radio;
Last time i used Xbmc4xbox to format my hdd (sata ide 1tb) at one point i gotten a power surge.
The Xbox reboot and then i gotten very strange glitches on my text and some of the textures.
At first I din´t see it but when i used the File manger the text is unreadable. (UnleashX installer for xbmc4xbox)
But the xbox was acting very strange after the power surge....
My X3 bios was so slow when new hdd was inserted, Old ide hdd no problem.
So i fixed it by doing a hot swap and reformatted it in X3 menu.
After the reboot the X3 menu had normal speed.
But the glitches on the text are still there, after 3 days reformatting the HDD using different
Formatted tools I finally got it to work with out any glitches.
Xformat 1.3 did the trick for me

Note i used a Xbox ver 1.1 and the 1080i display settings.

Forcing 480p within NKPatcher for softmods & disabling native 480p support in the MSDash works for JSRF.

    Also:

Using CDX to bypass the 480p initialisation process also works for JSRF, I don't have Panzer Dragon so can't test it.

Here is the cdx.inx that will launch the game instantly.
(Basically it acts like you just launched the games xbe, but fixes the issue)
    Note:
Some folk have issues with GTA:SA but I have never had an issue with 480p & this game, so I'm unable to tes, to see if it's also fixed with the above.

So I am trying to use the cdx method to load jet set radio future on my 1.6 softmodded xbox but I get the following error

ID too long at line 1

I am using the above script. What I have found is that if I use notepad to paste the text I get twice the Xbox start screen. If I use notepad++ to paste the text I get this error.

    ---Edit---

Ok I have copied the original config file and pasted there the above script. Everything worked fine. The game folder must be in the root folder where the cdx.xbe is.

Unmask the 480p in MS Dash and launch the game with EvoX
Known games affected (xbox 1.2 to 1.6x)
