just started my collection of xboxes

just got a red xcm xbox

well i spotted this on ebay.. well the guy actually had 3 of them..!!! anyway he was selling them in a bundle of some 16 softmodded xboxes and 3 of them were red. after contacting him i asked if he would be happy selling me one, so here it is and all for the sum of £10 + £10 postage.. its a lovely thing...!!!

The XCM jewel ruins the whole look for me.

 

I have one of these I put a softmod in. I tend to agree with Hex on the jewel. The bezel ruins it for me iin a lesser way. Bought mine when Llamma was dumping these off at a clearance price along with the silver one.

 

It just looks shit, I can't really explain why but looks extremely cheap. Bezel is another issue for me too.

I would of bought these cases at the same sale, but shipping was just stupid.

 

well i was actualy quite surprised at how well made they are, almost seems from the same stuff the original crystal xbox is made from. i guess its not to everyones taste but they are quite rare now and its a little different

 

I'm not a big fan of the XCM jewel, But the colours nice. You got it at a good price too.

 

Don't get me wrong jgs, red is a colour the XBOX should of come out in. It's just that ugly jewel. I think a original black jewel would look great on it.

 

yes i agree too the jewel is a little naff looking, but im gonna leave it as it is, i know there are a few guys out there still looking for these, they almost seem like the holy grail of xbox cases for some guys its a shame microsoft didnt do the original xbox in more colours too, that would have been great.

im guessing by the fact the motherboard has a fan for the cpu its an older version board too fitted, not really up on that sort of thing though

 

Well the 1.0 boards had a GPU fan, along with a usb1.0 daughterboard, and 1.1 didn't. Dead give away

seems you need an xbox with the Xcm face plate and LCD?
you collect sealed games? I have a sealed version of scrapland if interested?

 

well it arrived today, thankfully undamaged.. my missus wondered why i had spent so much money on another xbox.!!!! she says they all look the same...lol anyway im happy its now in my small slowly growing collection, have spent my budget for this year so need to stop looking for a while. system boots up ok and all seems to work so its now been put away safely..

DVT-4 are not that hard to find, but they are drying up as of late.

 

maybe easy in the good old usa but not here in the uk, first one ive seen for sale this year anyways..

just got my very first grey japan controller
outside is a little scuffed, which im a bit miffed about but its all new and unopened

 

well its amazing what a bit of G3 cutting compound and some Auto glym polish will do to a tired hazy plastic box, still got a single scratch on it but looks much better now
