    Cheers.

Like many other little boys I have been a huge Lego fan back in the day. Once I had the internet discovered for my purposes, I started searching for vintage Lego that I had missed when I was too young for it. That was around 2000-2002 (in 2002 I bought myself an Xbox which drained my interest in Lego pretty quickly) when I bought a Lego train which I've always wanted to own and still consider the best train EVER (the 1992 Metroliner), the matching yellow Train Station and some house kits from the 80's and 90's to build a small town.
It was a lovely small-scale city and I still like to indulge myself in memories.
This thread is thought to be a meeting point for anyone who wants to share his specific memories w/Lego or his kind of appreciating Lego even today when the days of being a child are long gone.

I don't have the space to build or store lego models any more, so I disassembled them and put into some boxes. I don't think I've grown out of the days of being "kid enough" to buy new sets that I missed back in the day (there are still some that were way too expensive to ask for when I was little), but then again it's too expensive for something I can't even exhibit somewhere, so I just buy a game for the same price which I can put into some shelf where I can see it.
One thing I still really like is to read old Lego catalogs, I have the full collection of scans of all Dutch/German catalogs from 1978-1995. Especially the era from 1990-1995 is so lovely illustrated: Only models w/skyscrapers, glas-plates representing the sea and small stories between the different themes make those the best of all catalogs. After 1996 they tended to use comics instead of time-consuming background buildings or large sceneries to accommodate a story.

Long story short: Post your experiences / collections / opinions on Lego.
Photos of nice small-scale models / cities / sceneries are always appreciated if you find some on the net. Brickshelf.com is a great address to find for such things on your own.

I loved Lego when i was a kid and should still have one of those red tubs which just had many many bricks to make whatever you want, I did have several green bases which you could stick lego onto but i bet i don't have them anymore. I did at one stage have a small lego kit which you made into a specific item although i don't remember what one it was now

Most of the lego i had was the tubs of bricks, wheels, people....ect as i always just liked to take bricks and make anything i wanted, i was never a big fan of buying the kits which you had to make into specific things.

    I love Lego :D
I remember I and my father assembling legos every night in my childhood.
We still have some of them, now disassembled, because my game's collection is taking all the space.

I am an avid LEGO fan, always have been since I was 4 years old!

I ve got an extensive collection that's...somewhere in my boxes.

Ever since I was a kid I promised myself I'd make a huge room and a big table to house my own LEGO city, so I ll never have to pack them away.

I still intend on keeping that promise!

(provided I can get a house someday)

I used to be a LEGO addict as a child as well, used to spend lots of time with my dad building stuff, nice memories, though I don't have any LEGO left now, gave them all away.

My friends always had WAY more Legos than I did...

I loved my Legos when I was a kid. This set in particular I remember getting for my birthday.

This site has a huge database of all different sets over the last few decades. Talk about walking down memory lane...

I hope they still make Legos well into the future, and bring back Erector sets.

I want my kid to still have access to these toys as they teach great skill in following instructions. It has had that affect on me growing up.

When I was a kid it was Space Lego all the way. I had loads of the stuff. Great fun! I remember one Christmas my dad bought me 2 meter square of moon style ground mats and had set them out on a massive board in the garage. When you're a kid that 's like having your own mini planet.

OP's picture reminds me of the best days of Lego.

Though Yakumo's right, the space shit was primo as well. Red, grey, fluorescent clear green.

My best friend in elementary school had a lot of the flats to use, we made a damn city in his basement. And watched ninja turtles movies or Forest Gump (not sure why, just happened) every other weekend.
    So happy.

Well, can a resident Dane chirp in on this ? well I still have all my lego from back in the day. And my father is every now and then playing with the bricks. So yeah, you can count me in on being a lego fan.

LEGO was my toy of choice back then too. You can be so creative. I built some models after plans provided by the company, but the best fun was had building something from scratch, trying and trying until everything fits. Watching Back To The Future and building a DeLorean out of LEGOs e.g. Awesome.

Used to love it too. I inherited a big box of random pieces from my brothers so didn't tend to follow the kits either, just made random tanks, armored cars, planes etc out of Command & Conquer and so on. I did get a couple of bigger sets over a few christmas and birthdays, a massive castle and an alien set. Would take ages to make that castle but I loved destroying it with the tanks afterwards

Also had a technics kit and some Knex - made a millenium falcon out of the latter. In fact I made a millenium falcon out of tazos too - very brittle that one!

    I LOVE LEGOS!

If only they weren't so damn expensive!

    I had this:

And another one in that series that was smaller than it. I think there was one set bigger than that one but it was crazy expensive.

I can't find it but a while back I bought a set of Red legos for making Dinosaurs and made a Red Dragon out of it. In fact I THINK I posted pictures of it on this forum but might have deleted them from photobucket. Now all my legos are in a big box of assorted legos. I've lost several pieces over the years, sadly.:-(

I still have enough to make whatever I want, as long as its supposed to be mainly Red.
