I spent loads of money on the Star Wars Lego when it came out as Lego had been a childhood favorite of mine.

But I'm not sure I like the new stuff as much as some kits have a lot of pre-molded parts, which sort of takes away all the fun.

Also is it me or is Lego much more expensive now?

    I love LEGO!!!

For around 3 years back in the day Lego is all I got. This was around 1993 - 1996 and I had pretty much all the space stuff going.
I remember going to school one day and finding a piece of lego inside my school jumper!

I am fairly certain they were never sold but I know they are not at my house. I am going to have to go down to my folks house now and raid the loft to find it all.

I also had alot of the 'Robin Hood' series. Well I think it was Robin Hood, if not it was like forrest fortresses and what not. AWESOME!

Oh man, that brings back so many memories! That was the very first Space Lego Set I ever had. Looks well early 80's in design now but back then it was out of this world :D

I loved Lego as a kid and built all sorts of cars/airplanes/spaceships out of them. Of course, about half the fun was crashing them into a wall afterwards and watching them shatter

Lego was always crazy expensive though, and I've never understood the new "themed" Lego stuff. Lego was all about building your own crazy designs, so what's the point of having a set you can use to build a TIE fighter or something, but you can't use it to make anything else?

I was a huge space fan myself and had the one you linked as well as the bigger one you been talking about:

Both sets are great as they are, the big Lego space ships were always so imaginative and inspired a kids fantasy more than anything.
Some significant memory of mine is from Christmas, I think it was 1998, when I got a huge white space ship:
I had not seen it in any Lego catalog back then so I was surprised as hell to see it under the Christmas tree. And what an awesome set that is! There are just too many details & functions on this ship to list. Definitely one of my all-time favourites, I think this one is the best space ship around, followed by the Ice Planet ship.

Is here anyone who appreciates the Model Team series as much as I do? The models were incredibly detailed and demanded a lot of patience.

Does any one remember Lego Technic ? damn that was awesome too, back in the 90´s, heck Lego conquered quite a few Meccano fans thanks to lego technic seriously lego rocks even today. You just have to dig through a load of crap, and the EU court is a joke. Cause lego is unique. So fuck the EU court, and fuck the EU for that matter about the Feta cheese, which no one would have known of, except for cheese connoisseurs and Greeks. Cause it was the Danish cheese industry that paved the way for the Feta cheese. sorry for going a bit off topic.

    Feta cheese, wtf?

I was never that much of a Lego Technic fan, but I had some sets and they were damn fun to construct. I've always wanted this one, but it was too expensive at the time:

Same with the Space Shuttle which is actually the only set that I seriously consider to buy today, just to fill a gap in my past:

So awesome. Note the small Lego seats in the cockpit, you could even put real Lego figures in it as pilots, not those butt-ugly Lego Technic people!
Bad thing is, this set still goes for serious money. Prices vary between 100 and 150+ Euros :crying:

Heck, I used to remember you had to buy three different sets to get a red car out of all those sets.

Cool, a kid from the neighborhood had the yellow underwater station. He told us that he was the only one who had the permission to open the big blue doors. Good times...

I have that one still at parent's house actually, didn't realise it would be worth so much! I doubt I've got all the pieces though, the box is used as the storage for all my old lego. the crane bit was awesome, I remember trying to use the motors out of that set to power my tanks, cars etc but they were wayyy too weak

I had (and still have, without the box) one of these:

    Best lego set ever, IMO.

I really want to start collecting both 2nd-Generation Blacktron and Pirate stuff again. Specifically, I'd really like to get the following, ideally NISB:

I also like M-Tron (with the magnets), 90's Futuron (i.e. the monorail), the 2004-ish Underwater stuff, and the "Ice Planet" space stuff from the late 1990's.

Yeah, THIS in particular, I want this:

I was really into collecting Nerf guns right when I was also into collecting Legos. Did anyone else collect Nerf stuff? I regret selling my Arrowstorm. Super Soakers also.

I need to get a show on toys, like James May.

Another vote for the monorail being awesome. I had one as a kid but, alas, not anymore. All the old space stuff was great, really. My other favorite was the police station.

What I want now is the Taj Mahal:

But I'll probably never convince myself to drop $300 on it.
