I recently updated my gdemu to its latest firmware version and I regret I did it. GDmenu is messed up again and made me select dc flasher accidentally....

I said to myself when I got my GDemu that if it worked perfectly I would never update it.

It has always worked 100% perfect (and usually better and faster than I anticipate) so I won't ever update it.

Gutted to see people having trouble though :(

As for the new firmware update... now if I press the up button and start selecting games from the bottom, like I said, things get messed up. Anyone experiencing the same issue?
Well... I am getting no bgm music in lobby with PSO v1 PAL. Anyone cares to test to see if this is my problem or gdemu issue?

Hello everyone. I have been working on my own device and was wondering if anyone could answer some technical questions regarding the GDROM drive. It appears that much of the complication regarding the packet interface centers around the CDDA functionality. One stumbling block is subcode data. Is the SPI request to get subcode data just to get timestamping information from the audio stream? Is there an inexpensive game that uses no CDDA or subcode requests?

Because the image changing mechanism changed so more than 64 games can now selected but the cycling backwards don't work now you have this problem basically every one have this problem, this can be fixed by NeuroAcid on future update (pls neuro update the menu :D )

about the PSO i cant tell or test sorry

to disable CDDA, just use TOC from game w/o cdda.

That's not feasible. Games without CDDA have 1 track in the high density area, whereas any game with CDDA will have it sandwiched between two Data tracks. In those situations track03 is just the TOC, the files themselves are always forced to the outside of the disc and placed in the last track.

I would assume Sonic Adventure 1, Sonic Adventure 2, and Crazy Taxi are common games that are probably cheap. None of those use CDDA. (It's all ADX in the data track) Otherwise, you can "Disable" CDDA by rebuilding the GDI in GDIBuilder without it, which is equivalent to cybdyn's suggestion. But I'm not sure how many games will behave correctly without their CDDA present.

It depends on how Deunan implemented the missing track case, but I believe a Dreamcast that can't find a cdda/gdda track will simply be mute (or maybe skip it), at least that's how it works with mil-cd.

i mean: in hardware, use TOC from gdi game w/o cdda, as respond for command 0x14 of SPI protocol. it's for disable cdda from game. game wont ask cdda tracks for playing.

about GDI image: yeah, i make big one from separate tracks. DATA3+(4...N-1)_Audio TRACKS+DATA_N. but if he use only 3rd and last track, no need cdda tracks at all. i just dont know what/how he is doing his emu))

btw: tell more about your device, if you wish

I hit him up on ICQ a while back, like over a month ago, and asked about potential support for CDI (I'd love to try Half-Life on the USB-GDROM, for instance!).

He said he was busy manufacturing boards for StoneAge Gamer, and didn't have time at the moment to work on firmware. I don't remember the exact phrasing, but he basically implied that more support and fixes would come "eventually..."

I have a feeling that once the USB-GDROM goes mainstream and he sells a few hundred boards, he will then focus on new firmware.

That's what I know...in the meantime, I have MORE than enough to keep me occupied with the 2TB USB drive that I have attached to this awesome device! Maybe I will finally finish Skies of Arcadia...

Yeah I want a new UI lol pity he doesn't make the OS part open source & bootable from the USB device, then we the public could update the UI, it's need a nice thumbnail view.

Thumbnail view would be soooooo nice...but I'll take compatibility and stability first (it's been rock-solid stable for me, don't want that to be messed with!).

I wonder if there are even enough resources and space available to improve the UI, or if the barebones text version we see is about all that it can support? Not even sure what sort of flash memory, etc. he packed on there. I didn't examine the board too closely on install and look up the chips.
