I'm using the latest GDEMU firmware. GUIFormat with 32KB cluster size. Tried a quick format and it results in the DC booting and telling me to insert a disc. This is the card I'm using: http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Memor...428890326&sr=8-2&keywords=sd+ultra+64+sandisk

I have a test running with a standard format using GUIFormat and it's got about an hour left to go before I can copy files over and test.

Does anyone still sell the DreamShell SD Adapters? They used to be everywhere, now I can't find a single one.

Also, has anyone got any VMU utilities working with GDEMU? DreamExplorer detects my VMU but won't copy/erase/etc.

I couldn't find any on eBay either. Searching Google, I found some nice quality, transparent adapters, made in 2011 - now long gone.

About the files you uploaded... Do you just run the CDI from GDEMU, with the other files on the root of the SD adapter?

its not a CDI & GDEMU can run the full version of Dreamshell.
(full version as in the bog standard .cdi version)

The file I link to is just the sd loader converted to Gdi format so UGC can load it, & even at that it only loads the sd loader, anyother loader just hangs.
(currently UGC doesn't support the .cdi format)

I wanted to see if I could get dreamshell to load as I was sick of taking the UGC out & replacing it with the GDRom drive, so this make my life a lot less tedious & all that's required is a SD adaptor, external or internal.

so when Japanese-cake releases a new firmware I can just flash it without having to open the console.

if you have a GDEMU this is not for you.

Why would you want to run Dreamshell on the USB GD-ROM?

because he wants to flash the bios

also you can do stuff like:
    Backup and restore your saves
    Load homebrew Games and Programs

Are there any games besides PSO Ver.2 that are confirmed to be incompatible with GDMenu? We just unfortunately found that you can't play Battle mode if you boot the game with GDMenu (both GDI and CDI).

    http://3do-renovation.ru/USB-GDROM_Controller.htm

    Just saw the updated website.

I have nothing against the developer and the device. IMO it is an amazing product. Offers diversity in the ODE scene for Dreamcast.

BUT IMO, it is total nuts and ridiculous for their users to wait till 2018 for some features like swap image function.

Why not push the update till 2020 or 2030? Release every tiny feature every 5 years? It will be awesome.

Because of this I always prefer GDEMU. The developer is open to communication and feature request. Despite time delay, he always delivers his promise.

I'm having a bit of a problem with my GDEMU, wondering if someone can help. I'm using a Sandisk Extreme 32gb SDHC card formatted with SD Formatter, FAT32 32kb. I put a GDI in a folder named 01, with the .gdi file renamed "disc.gdi". When I insert the sd card into the GDEMU the LED comes on and stays on. When I click on the controller to play, it says theres no disk. I've also tried a CDI renamed disc.cdi and it did the same thing. Any help? Thanks

UPDATE - I just tried making the SD card with the latest GDEMU_SD and got the same result. The yellow LED comes on and stays on. I'm giving up for tonight...

The way I understand that is he'll support the device with firmware updates until 2017-2018. The to do list is what he's working on now starting with cdi implementation which will be done very soon. Don't know how you got that the swap image feature will be for 2018.

Hey, madsheep! Are you plannig on integrating an option for gdi rebuilding into sd card maker program?

oh, and another cool feature would be support for compressed images, i.e. a user chooses a gdi-image compressed with rar or whatever and sd-maker automatically unrars, shrinks and puts it on sd-card.

It sounds like your GD-EMU mistakenly assumes the write-protect is on. This will make it search for a firmware image. Try putting the latest firmware image on the SD-Card to determine if it tries to update i.e. you get a flashing LED.

I had this issue and solved it my bending the write-protect spring slightly.

I would advice against this, instead of having a swiss-army knife of a program it is better to have separate dedicated programs maintained separately.

thank you for all the answers guys :)

Info for the creator of the GDI Rebuild - rebuilding
    - Conflict Zone (EU) (2002) [T-46603D-72] [330-7211-30553-3]
    - Dino Crisis (GB) (2000) [T-7019D-05] [502-8587-08416-4]
    - Dragon Riders - Chronicles of Pern (EU) (2001) [T-17716D-91] [330-7211-30626-4]
    - Fur Fighters (GB) (2000) [T-8113D-05] [345-5198-32181-4]
won't work. It says the image is too large to create a GD-Rom. while unpacking, the Temp folder gets about 32GB of data.
This is most probably just an anti-piracy protection.

I'll try that, thanks. Do you bend it in towards the inside of the SD reader or do you push it back? It's the spring along the side closest to the disc swap button, correct?

UPDATE - I don't think it's thinking the card is write protected, because when I lock the card, it flashes. When the card is unlocked, it just stays solid.
