Ok guys, you sold it to me! Region-free is clearly the killer feature to me. I cannot wait to order one of your boards!

I think 100€ (~140$) would be alright for me.

Features that I would like to see are:

    - all games from all region supported
    - menu selection (doesn't have to be pretty)
    - forced vga on games where it's possible (I love Bust-a-Move)

What I don't need is any sort of homebrew support.

I think the only games which come on more than one disc are Shenmue, Shenmue II, Skies of Arcadia,
RE: Code Veronica, Alone in the Dark, Headhunter, Deep Fighter, Stupid Invaders and Resident Evil 2
The majority of those games is pretty good so I guess there has to be some sort
of multi disk support - I can't quite remember if for example Shenmue saves after you
complete one disk so that you can simply put in/load the next disc, but i can check if
    you want me to.

The whole piracy thing seems a bit backwards to me. No developer or publisher gets anything
for those used games which are already in circulation. Quite to the contrary I believe that
you guys are doing future generations a huge favor in preserving those experiences of older
generations, our generation. I believe that any developer (as in person, not company) would
be happy to see his game living on and on.
If someone really wants to support the video game scene he or she just has to buy a new game,
maybe Jet Set Radio on PSN or Steam ;-)

There is no piracy (its only relevant when developers make money) on the dreamcast, its a discontinued games console, all games bar a few indie are classed as abandonware, there are no support or continued development of all released games, bar the few indie games.

on the major sites that host games, they don't allow the hosting of current indie games & this is a good thing since this would be classed as piracy. In my eyes anyways.

ultimatly you need to download a few games due to them being so damn hard/near impossible to acquire.

anyhoo I would pay £100 for this device no probs.

Until the games fall into the public domain, it's piracy. Supported or not, sold or not, forgotten or not, the rights are owned by someone. Unless that someone allow some sorts of sharing, it's piracy. The law is very clear on this subject.

And even though I try to respect a certain code of morality (not pirating new or indie games), having the old ones is still piracy. Many of my games are illegally owned, I don't say it's good, nor that it's really bad, but I make a point to admit it. My two cents of honesty. ;-)

lots of companies have been defunct other have changed the origins of the company so some of their games can be assumed abandon-ware so can be used, sega titles on the other hand is copyrighted and re used in newer gen consoles also if a company have problem with the iso & rom distribution you will see a C&D on your e-mail soon. also you can use some free stuff (homedrew, emulators, demos etc)

Abandonware have no legal existence. If the company is defunct, the rights are then owned by the people who created the software. And if they are dead, you have to wait many decades after their death for the software to become public domain. So, so far, unless for games which have clearly been stated as "free" by the rights' owners, it's piracy.

I don't give a crap about using piracy, I have been too much ripped off by makers to worry about that, but I think people should know when they commit a crime, even though they don't care about it being a crime. ;-)

And to get to the topic, here is my review of GDEMU:

As a side note, all the games tested come from piracy. I don't own the original discs. ^^

Only if there is a device that you can house a GD rom in a USB 2/3 enclosure since there would be quite a bit of GD Roms not being used. Kudos to the GDEMU team!

I Like your way i understand what you saying but the rules is not always the golden grail so lot of staff is considered crime but until someone or some company is affected or bothered there is no problem i don't say it is not crime by the rules but in some point the rules are bending.

You are the lucky one i am waiting for my GDEMU :D

Actually piracy isn't illegal or a crime ;-) its breach of copyright & is a civil matter, so the owners of the game would need to get a court order against me/us & would cost far to much for something thats making them no money. (hens Abandonware, no one cares about them anymore, not even the publishers/developers)

People make that mistake all the time, you can't steal (crime/illegal) something that is a copy, ie you would need to steal the source/master to be deemed as a crime.

Now that would be awesome, however I am not sure how usefull would it be since the dc needs refrigeration. An alternate fan option, a quieter solution would be welcome though.

You could attach the fan to the 3.3v on the power pins. Its what I have done & its almost silent & doesn't overheat. (i also removed the bottom plate of the GDRom Drive)

That circuit is actually pretty simple and cheap...

@wombat, I have the confirmation by SWAT that the G1 bus can be fed with more than 12x with no problem. Using DS + IDE adapter, he achieved around 20x using PIO mode. Using DMA he thinks he could reach 70x. Same speeds should apply to DCIO.
