Did you borrow Doc Brown's DeLorian to take that picture of bubble lady? Looks like it's straight out of the 70's.

Can anyone recommend a camera rental shop..?
Im considering renting a canon 5d mark 3 and lens for a weekend
i want to make a presentation video kind of like a kickstarter video but just for internal use

Im considering buying a 5d mark 3 sometime next year and doing part payments but not sure how much I'll get charged ..as interest/part payment charge

If you're going to buy one, I'm afraid waiting for one to go on sale in the US is going to be much cheaper. The J-price has finally cum down to lower than the US, but that's by large b/c of the yen weakening. You can get one for 300,000 off of Amazon.jp. B&H PHoto has them listed for $3300. However, many retailers will go through lots of a few hundred for $2500 on Ebay. If you have a US address, this is substantial savings.

For rentals, there are a handful of places that do this. Just google カメラレンタル. You will get the usual outdated, counter-intuitive web design which turned me off from renting anything. I just decided to buy used, and sell when I was done. My guess is you need some type of credit card... Japan-based or not, I can't say.

If you're just doing video, and don't need the extra few stops that Magic Lantern offers on the 5d3, then a used 5d2 is probably ample. You will be well advised to pay more attention to the lens than the body in that case even. While the 5d3 is definitely a better camera (from what I've heard), the main upgrade is the auto-focus which doesn't apply to video. Image quality is better, but only marginally, and most noticeable at the higher ISO spectrum. The 5d2 is still a video work horse, and for a Vimeo video I don't think the upgrades will be noticed.

Thanks for the advice GaijinPunch !
Actually ill be in the US for New Year though I dont know if my card can sustain the cost of a camera and lens at that point
The lens I would like is Canon ef 24-70mm f/2.8 l usm ii

For camera rental I do have a japanese based credit card - its just for a small project to make a game presentation more flashy than normal.

Wow! I haven't seen your son in a while. The last time I saw him was a video you made of him playing the MegaDrive or something. They grow up so fast!

There is actually a "camera rental" section on Yahoo Japan I stumbled on yesterday. That might help. The 24-70 F2.8 II is apparently awesome. I owned "the Brick" (it's predecessor) and liked it, although I thought it might have been a bit over priced. The EF-S 17-55 F2.8 (APSC only) I thought was a better performer w/ the same angle of view on those bodies.

well i don't know what she was like before, but these Japanese ladies certainly keep their figures more than western women.

your boy will always do well, fluent in two languages is and being able to "understand" a lot of written Chinese. a bright future.

Definitely stay thinner through the years... no question. They usually start that way too! However, too many girls fall into either "skinny fat" or "dangerously anorexic" for my taste. There is some weird poisonous aura given off at the gym which prevents attractive Japanese women from going. It's weird. Go to Shibuya and you can throw a rock and hit a 7 or higher. Walk into the gym in Shibuya and it's a total sausage fest w/ a few old ladies. Bizarre culture.

Hmm... do you read the news?

I was reading that China is the future. I also read that in the daytime, 1 in 8 females seen in Shibuya have done something sexual for money with non partners in their lifes? is that true? Japanese ladies can't seem to shake off the image of being ''easy'' and sluts, I guess it's when US service men occupied them after the WWII/.

Google "enjo kousai" (or maybe enjou kousai). It's nothing really new. The idea of what is prostitution is quite skewed. This has been going on for quite a while. I see mismatches around town all the time. So obvious... or maybe I'm just judging people quietly.

There are women (and men) in all countries who are "easy" or "sluts".
