Maybe I'll pick this up when it inevitably goes in the bargain bin, but it doesn't look like it's worth full price. Also, can't wait until zombies just go the fuck away already. The only acceptable zombie-related thing would be a House of the Dead sequel, everything else can go to hell.
I was hyped for the game when it was announced, just because Suda51 made one of my alltime favorite games (Killer7) and "Shadow of the Damned" was drop-dead funny. But now after seeing all the trailers, I expect extremly repetitive gameplay. It realy looks like they do the math like "zombies+cheerleader=nerds go crazy". Well, maybe I'm totaly wrong and missleaded by the trailers and we get some gameplay elements which are rich in variety. I realy hope so.
I agree, I had to miss out on the pre-order today. But I guess this will give me time to find out from others who got it whether it's worth the full retail price or if it'd be better to pick up from a sale etc.
Hmm, well that might warrant picking up a copy when it drops to 20-30 dollars. If it's that generic though, I doubt I'll bother picking one up any time soon. Probably just hold back for Ni no Kuni, Darksiders 2 etc.
Shadow of the Damned was funny but as a game I found the controls to be very stiff and annoying. It was also a bit too empty at times.
I thought Shadows of the Damned was a great game tbh , Sarcastic dark humor was fantastic during the whole game. To each his own really , everyone enjoys certain things. What ever makes you happy while gaming so be it.
I'm not saying it wasn't funny. I really did like the style and humor but it just felt too stiff IMO.
Mine was shipped from Tokyo this morning so it should be here tomorrow or if not definitely on Friday
Good to know, may pick up a copy when I have some spare cash then. I was debating it, still am. Can any others confirm if this game is worth the retail price?
My copy arrived earlier today, and omg.. I love this game! It's so awesome. It's a button-masher and has some wtf moments, but you know what? It's so fun!
I didn't want to post in this thread anymore but since you asked for opinions to make sure you don't buy crap... [rant] There were two things said right at the start of the game that made me feel so retarded for playing it that even if the game was any good (which I didn't find it to be in the 15 minutes I played), I wouldn't have been able to play it without being pissed at myself. 1) during the intro movie, the main character talks about having two sisters and a mom who all look the same as her (styled up blonde with a "would you like to cum on my face?" look). Then she said *something* about them all doing *something* to their vaginas (sic!) because (?) of the mom. One of her sisters is supposed to be 13. 2) once you start, you get told "you can move the camera with the right stick. But don't use that to look up dresses you perv!!!" I suppose the target audience is around the same age as her kid sister... the game isn't even trying to be about the gameplay, it's about looking up dresses of underage blonde piles of pixels. They even assume their audience to be so retarded that they have to give them a how-to for looking up the dresses (they could've just said "use the right stick to move the camera." but no...) Then they threw in some bad combat mechanics that feel 15 years old to be able to sell it as a video game. The rest is marketing. Did I mention the tons of invisible walls and quick time events? You can't go there now... now press this button! My guess is DLC1-4 will be new costumes, DLC 5 a rendered lesbo movie of all the sisters having sex. [/rant] Some people in this thread who I think highly of seem to be into it though, I just can't understand it. I read the entire thread but there are so many non-cheap-beentheredonethat-games that you can play with your head off to relax, so why this?! I... I don't get it. Just saying, beware before buying, think about renting and buying if you like it afterwards. Or save yourself some money and get Onechanbara for 5$, same thing except the main girl isn't a blonde iirc. No offense meant towards anyone, if you like it, you like it, why not. But this thread is way, waaaay to positive about this game, especially considering there seem to be 4 people in here that have actually played the game, 2 of which didn't care for it much. If I didn't know better I'd say you all just bought into the marketing and will soon be falling down the cliff like lemmings (but I do know better, you gave your reasons already). But thanks for trying to explain it to me anyway, I'm obviously just not the right kind of person for this kind of game. To each his own, if you have fun, have fun! Nothing wrong with that.
Glad to see something more than just "this is fun" etc. It's exactly what I needed to decide whether or not I was going to invest in this game. I may pick up a copy a year from now when its 20 bucks and a bargain bin buddy, but not anytime soon. Thanks for that iNub.
