If anyone thought this was was worth full retail I imagine they must buy alot of crap. The game could be worth a couple bucks to rent or something, but I don't know how anyone can compare this to a $59.99 title like a new Assassin's Creed or something like that. I haven't played the game, but it's pretty safe to say there are better games out there. Ofcourse it is no surprise because these sorts of themes are popular in movies. Ultra Violence/Gore and Sexual themes. Whoever said it was right that the whole Zombies thing has been REALLY over-done lately.
...no. Just. No. I finished the game. I enjoyed it. It was fun. There were a few frustrating moments in it. But over all, it was over the top sensationalized hack and slash fun. No More Hero fans will feel right at home with this. Is it perverted? Yeah. Does it try to hide it like DOA: Xtreme Beach Volleyball? No. It's BLATANTLY overly sexual, and that's the quirk of it. My wife and I both enjoyed playing through it and found it entertaining, not in a sexual way because the sexualization in the game is so over the top - it loses it's meaning and becomes a joke. Similar to purposely so bad it's good movies. I guess it's a type of humor that goes over a lot of peoples heads. Mottzilla, I find you to be one of the members on this board who is usually intelligent in their posts...but this...well...You kinda build an opinion, and then destroy all credibility.
Well, mine will arrive today or tomorrow. I'll give my honest opinion when it arrives. By the way, I bet pretty much everyone will use the camera to look up the skirt. I'll also play in Japanese to see if it's only the translation to English which has been dumbed down more than it is. Yakumo
To quote you some more, "no. Just. No.". That's where it gets a little pathetic imho, I can sympathize with the rest of what you said in this thread and I approve the point you made and Vosse agreed to in the chatbox about people not playing something yet still having a strong opinion on it and I also respect your opinion of the game but that's just unnecessary. Yes, there are trash movies. Yes, there are trash games. Yes, some of them are cool, among other things because of their trashiness, the first example that comes to my mind is Kill Bill. But if you claim the humor of movies like "Evil Bong" or games like "Lollipop Chainsaw" goes over A LOT of people's heads... no, it's just that they're crap, crap² to be exact, and not everyone is down with that sort of entertainment, fun for a short while or not. That's almost as bad as saying "the hidden qualities of great shows like <country>'s Next Top Model, Big Brother or <country> idol (aka Popstars in some countries) go over a lot of people's heads".
Will be released in the UK tomorrow, which hopefully by then it will be shipped -- Is the game short XxHennersXx ? Seems like you've finished the game rather quickly
Looking up her skirt earns you an achievement. I swear. I still think it's fun. It's kinda like a mix between Viewtiful Joe and Dead Rising in my opinion. I'm not necessarily saying it's as good as those games were, it just has similarities. I can't say this game is as good as Reach or Skyrim or one of those AAAAAAAA++++++ titles, but I only paid a little over $40 for this and I think I definitely got my money's worth.
You realize that taste in videogames, like any art-form, is subjective, right? The way you wrote this sentence sounds like you think that there's a way people should be reacting to the game. I really have no idea if it's a good game or not, because I have not played the game nor do I know anything about it. But it's absurd to act as if there's a right and a wrong way to think about videogames.
Just wrote an angry e-mail to amazon telling them to ship the fucking game already. see if Its fed ex'd by the end of the day
Again, I didn't play the game. My main, lets say expectation of the game, is that it is not worth $60 to me. Which is more a point about how expensive games are and the difference in atleast perceived quality. My example was that a game like Assassin's Creed when I first played it was very unique. I'm not saying that this game is awful and no one should play it. Although I guess I did write that someone must buy alot of crap if they thought this game was worth $60. I suppose I retract that but I would still maintain that I doubt that the game is worth $60 to me. Oh and just to be clear, I do intend to give this game a try when I get the chance. It does look funny to me. But you can blame online multiplayer games for making me think it isn't worth full price. I'm quite used to buying one or two games which feature heavy multiplayer and will last for a few months if not a year or two. Sorry if it seemed overly harsh or condescending. Hopefully I clarified my point.
Not in my top priority list, but I'll definitely get it later on (also looking to get it much cheaper...).
I'll do the same. And HeXiGON, I think the game is short. On HowLongToBeat, the average time to complete only the story is 5h39min.
That seems to be a pretty safe plan for those of us who didn't get it. Minimize your loss in case you don't like the game. If I get something for 20 bucks, short of it being fairly old... I don't expect much from it. If I get a few hours and a couple laughs for 20 bucks, at least it wasn't a total waste.
For 20 dollars I would buy it for sure. Here in Brazil the pre-order costs R$199 (around US$100). If I could buy it for US$30 plus shipping, it would be great already.
Yes sir, I realize opinions are subjective. I'm pretty sure I made it very very clear that people can and should have different opinions (in my opinion ), so I do think you just *wanted* to misunderstand what I wrote. What I actually wrote was: this thread had 4 pages. 4 pages (minus two negative review posts and ASSEMbler's opinion of this kind of game) say "oh wow this is/will be great". However, only 4 people in the thread have played it so far. 50% of those (2 people and 2 "review" posts) did not like it. That means >90% of this thread make the game sound like the greatest thing since sliced bread, and that it is clearly not, and no, that's not a matter of opinion. I don't think anyone here will claim this was the best game they played in the last years. It may be fun for the 4-6 hours of gameplay you can get out of it, but nothing more. So yeah, my point is that this thread made this game *sound* way better than it actually is, and some of us believe it to be among the worst piles of crap released in 2012. And people should be aware of those facts (to make sure you don't misunderstand me again: fact #1: not the greatest thing since sliced bread, you might very well like it but it's not a game you can not possibly allow yourself to miss out on; fact #2: some people believe it's fun; fact #3: some people believe it sucks, hard) to be able to make an informed decision to buy or not to buy, because if you believed in the other >90% of the thread (coming mostly from people who have not played it yet) you might get a very wrong impression of the "greatness" of that product, nothing more, nothing less. In short: if you like it, buy it. Buy 3 collectors editions and 5 statues of it if you want. But not everybody has the same positive opinion of it (which you seem to advocate, and rightly so), so you might think about renting it first. That's it.
Just as curiosity, IGN just reviewed this game and gave it a score of 5/10. Presentation - 8.5 Comic books, grindhouse flicks, and glam come together nicely. Graphics - 7.0 The world has cool colors and shading, but animations can be janky and gross. Sound - 9.0 Never mind some of the lame voice work -- this is one of the best soundtracks ever. Gameplay - 5.0 Bland, slow, and unsatisfying combat ad nauseam. Lasting Appeal - 5.0 It's short with multiple modes if you feel the need to climb leaderboards.
IGN reviews are terrible. I prefer Joystiq and Destructoid http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/12/lollipop-chainsaw-review/ http://www.destructoid.com/review-lollipop-chainsaw-229321.phtml
Both were quite thorough and enjoyable reads. I can't say they swayed my opinion any, as they haven't. I'll still pick up the game once its price drops a fair bit. Having read those reviews though, I do have a little more hope that it will be worth picking up when I finally do. Thanks for the links Johnny.
I enjoyed this game a lot. One of the better games of 2012. I personally would give it an 8 out of 10. Above average. Not fantastic, but not bad.
