looking for Retron 5 hack to play Roms

I just translated Retronlabo's last tweet (from November 30th) and it states "I will resume because work has been settled." So hopefully we'll all hear something soon.

 

I hope this hack allow the use of shaders from RetroArch to be added

I'm not in a hurry for this hack, as I will only open my christmas presents (including retron) day 25 and still have a lot of games to play and some still are in route for delivery (brazilian postal service sucks big time); and I am not 100% sure if I want this to be public available as Nintendo could consider going to stop Hyperkin to selling their devices.
Maybe just adding Google Play store support, so the user could install games (and emulators) in an easy way, is just good enought.

Check that video out. I made an app that will convert any ROM to be played on the Retron 5, full source included. It can also convert entire directories.
This is a slightly different method in that the app creates a blank ROM which will be used as the source rom. The ROM provided by the user will be the modified.

^, yeah I looked on his twitter it was in Japanese.. its a bit hard to understand what he is saying.. but.. I wil assume he is saying, it will release on new years?

Great work. It seems to work at a high percent. I have ran into blue screens (Altered Beast) and game crashe (Zombies ate my Neighbors) but overall this works much better than what I have b4 (nothing)

 

I'm trying out your Retron5 app, but I'm a bit confused about the steps.

Open the Flips.exe app.
Select "Create Patch".
It says "select ORIGINAL UNMODIFIED file"... I choose the ROM for the cartridge I have, right?. (Legend of Zelda, .sfc format).
Then it asks for "NEW MODIFIED" version...is this the game I want to play?I chose Super Mario World. .smc version.
I hit okay, then get a message about the output file being larger than the original.

Am I doing something wrong? Do you suppose the ROM file-type is a problem?

 

Open the BIN2Retron5 app.

Next question...is there a way to import savestate files from my PC onto the Retron?

 

Retronlabo is releasing this method in the next 24 hrs then? Is his method the same as gbrown5's or does Retrolabo's actually require a CFW to be written to the R5?

as you see its not easy to understand. but he does mention newyear, basically I am not sure how it work, but I will assume it will be the hack we have been waiting for YES we have waited so long.. but finally it will work from SD CARD, going to assume they it will be a custom firmware a hacked version that we install to the retron 5.. but beyond that I am clueless.

I CANT WAIT.. to finally have all my fav games... on the SD BOOM BOOM I can play so epic... this system can also play more than just what the console offers. what is even more epic lol also can I still do this hack, even if my retron 5 firmware is on the latest?

 

No guys, his latest tweet says that he will be sending out his hack to some more people (I guess he means testers) after the new year.
Not that he will be releasing it on new years.

 

How do I get him to send me a test build out then?, lol. I'll test if for him
