I wouldn't have minded shorting a few thousand Dow Jones futures last week.

 

Ron Paul speaks more truth than any other individual on Capital Hill.

 

He spoke well, but the plans he had to fix things were too radical and simply wouldn't work in this faith-based economy and there would be more poverty because of it than there is now. OVerall though, he is good and couldn't agree more. 4 years from now dollar will be as worthless as dog shit.

Sometimes you have to let the forest fire burn itself out. The forest will grow back. The economy needs to hit rock bottom on its own. It will bounce back up. The government is trying to keep a sinking ship from sinking. The captians are the CEOs of these big financial companies and the government is the slave worker forced to fixed it as it's promised freedom (a metaphor that the corporations give campaign contributions, so teh gov. has to pay its dues ).

Well, the guy makes a lot of valid points. People in countries affected by this tumorial have good reason to be angry.

Over the last 8 years, one thing we kept hearing a lot of was that it "didn't matter what the rest of the world thinks." Well, now we see why exactly it does matter to have good public preception of your country.

Becasue when people hate you, they are less likely to want to do business with you.

He seems to have forgotten that greed tends to ignore nationality and boarders. While I'm not about to defend Wall Street or its practices on this occasion the European banks that bought these securities wouldn't be in the position they are now if some of that greed hadn't gotten to them as well. Like many in this mess they forgot one of the golden rules of business. That being "Caveat Emptor".

As for the poster.. Looking at some of the other things he talked about in that post which are unrelated to the current financial crisis it seems he made his opinions long ago and this current problem is just another way for him to propagate them.

 

Ignoring the content of the blog completely (I've read it, it's too inflammatory for me to take seriously), I have a hard time understanding your critical angle here - he has opinions and this represents another facet of them? Is that supposed to be a biting critique? It sounds more like you're saying that you disagree with everything else he has to say and decided to ignore this recent post because of that, which is kind of arrogant.

I only read the single blog entry that Karstan directly linked to. With the statement of mine you quoted I simply wanted to point out that the blogger already had previously bias (Bush, Iraq war, ect) that look to be clouding his critique of the financial crisis. I didn't want to risk this thread going off track in that direction (which can so easily happen) so perhaps I wasn't as clear as I normally would have been. Sorry about that.

 

Actually, I misread your post - you didn't say you'd read other things on his blog, so it's my mistake. Apologies.
