What a joke. This sucks. We are in year 2008. They couldn't come up with something better!? Hell, why do all those systems have high resolution modes? Why they do we have broadband? Can't they do something GOOD? I love retro games, I'm a huge player of MD and games from that time, I collect retro games, but, seriously, making a game like this in the XXI century is pathetic.
That's taking it to a bit of an extreme. It'll be a good game at best. I DO think mega man deserves better than a regress downloadable title but at least they MADE a Mega Man 9 I also think we're in 20XX.....so where's my timber felling robot?
I dont care if its rehashed, so long as they make it good. Just because a game using new graphics (whether in yesteryear's or today's games) doesn't make it good. So yeah, gameplay > all, and I think Capcom could pull it off.
Capcom has this. You guys say use the new tech to make Mega Man better but Capcom tryed that and it crushed the series. (X8 anyone?) So they said hey, we have a shit ton of demand for the classic megaman what should we do. And some brilliant guy says "ALL 8-BIT!" and its going to work. 8 bit Mega is legendary so why not a new chapter. Maybe they are testing the waters to see about remaking HD. Please PLEASE remember that they remade Mega Man (powered up) and even though it was INSANELY good it didnt sell out like they hoped, otherwise we would have the other classics in the form of powered up. (which I would kill any of you to get a Powered up Mega Man 2 >_>) Its not like they put RE5 and SF4 on hold to make this, so chill out and lets see what happens. Im just glad the classic isnt forgotten and that legendary 8 bit blue man sprite will see the light of day again on modern systems.
Yeah it was probably like other PSP games Pirated to oblivion. I still think the only reason they're doing it as an 8bit game is because it's a relatively short development cycle to make a good game. If they make 9 like 6 it'll be good. I think 6 is right up there with 2 and 3 as my fave of the 8 bit series. It's challenging the dual boss thing is great and the music is pretty decent too. Don't hate on X8 I find it near impossible even with action replay aid. But it's solid even if they made the game impossible to beat.
But SNES games don't take 6 months to cobble together. I don't need to restate why it's 8bit again do I? That said I do love the music already
i am more than glad they are going the route they are with this game, they are challenging the industry. games to me were always about solving puzzles, even to some extent early fps games... wolf 3d, doom.. graphics != better games but i will admit seeing it with sprites from 6 or 7 would have been cool. but i am satisfied.
Hey, just because they found it on the floor when they finally cleaned the place up and found the misplaced Mega Man game they meant to release over a decade ago is no reason to insult them. I do agree with Micjohvan though. Mega Man Powered Up and Mega Man Maverick Hunter X were fucking awesome. But the damn PSP retards didn't buy it and now we aren't going to see the sequels. I welcome Mega Man 9. I mean it can't be worse than alot of the crap that comes out these days posing as a video game.
I just found the most awesome thing: Megaman 7 8-bits version. It's f*cking awesome http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YUQS9SOU
I would way rather have a rehash. Anyday. If a series was the best on the oldest engine it ran on, then why not return to it? I think Megaman (And Megaman X) games all stopped being good as soon as the SNES died.
Yeah, but why go the lazy bastard rout with NES style graphics? Why not use the far superior SFC or Mega Drive graphics? Capcom are just lazy. Yakumo
I don't mind. I see it as reliving the NES days. Feeling the excitement for a brand new title, new game and sending myself first class to the 80's.
Yeah, but the NES was the ugliest 8bit system graphically. That's why they should have went 16 bit. At least in 16bit stuff can look good. Yakumo
Blasphmy Yakuma BLASPHMY! here's an interview that explains the why of it all http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/3752/he_is_8bit_capcoms_hironobu_.php
Couldn't agree with you more! Mega Man is not the only series that has suffered this fate though. Mega Man 9 is a fan service to all of its old school fans. As for Powered Up and Maverick Hunters it was the wrong move. I want the series to move forward not be told a million times over. The only 3-D Mega Man game that turned out good was the Legends series.
Mega Man 8 is greatness the bosses might not be that memorable (Aqua man.....are we out of ideas yet) But the music and balanced game play made up for that. Mega Man X4 is great as well. X7 isn't bad it's just.....difficult.
