I didn't like it a lot, but I have to say they did a great job with the solos :)

BTW, I like Maiden a lot and I'm definitely a Manowar fan (it's almost always in my MP3 player). I hope I can see them live the next time they come to South America.
Anyway, I'll probably go to Argentina to see Maiden live in a couple of months :D

Aces High (an awesome Iron Maiden coverband in my honest opinion) Fear Of The Dark

I corrected my first message , I have never met an Iron Maiden fan who really like Manowar. Even though they do have similarities in styles. They are both true metal , and they are both melodic in their songs. But some people just can´t stand Manowar, when they like Iron Maiden as a fan. But seriously I started out with hearing Manowar, and when I heard Fear Of The Dark (the album) there I could see and hear the similarities, and I like them both even today after so many years. And you can always scare the jehovas away with very loud true metal.

I don't like to raise dead topics a lot but I think this thread doesn't deserve to die, I hope you guys think the same....

Well, I saw Dream Theater live in Argentina last night and it was just awesome, definitely the best show I've ever seen! It worthed all the efforts I had to do to get the money and the tickets (probably the hardest stuff was to get them, without a credit card I had to get somebody in Argentina to get them a week before)

Did anyone ever see them live? Any opinions?

I'm all for keeping this thread alive. I don't like Dream Theater - I think most of them are extremely pretentious and I don't like their music. That's not to say it's bad, however. Are they still touring with Between the Buried and Me?

I've been listening to a lot of Dillinger Escape Plan lately, but I find it hard to like anything past their first album. Miss Machine has some good songs but overall I think they're past their prime. Calculating Infinity is one of the most abrasive, frightening albums I've ever listened to and I now understand why it's praised as a masterpiece in some circles.

The other day I also took old-school In Flames for a spin (The Jester Race), but overall I'm really just listening to a ton of My Bloody Valentine, who are anything but metal.

    Yep, in May with Opeth.

New album seems dissapointing, just like Come Clarity. I'm seeing them at Gigantour though (hopefully with backstage passes).

Come Clarity wasn't terrible like Soundtrack to Your Escape was. I have made it a point to not buy that particular CD. In Flames is long past their peak, though; I didn't even know they were coming out with a new CD.

A lot of fans would say their great material stopped at Clayman, but I actually enjoy listening to Reroute to Remain from time to time. I'll say it again, though, STYE was awful. It's like they wrote songs while listening to American nu-metal CDs.

Edit: On watching their new video, I have to say it wasn't bad, although I doubt I'll be getting the CD. The guitar melodies are pretty cool and Bjorn is looking pimp with his new/old look. The lyrics are so incredibly cliche', though. "Find the exit sign and disappear?" Please...

I've seen them, and to be honest found them a little dull, I wasn't that impressed.
It's Great, but so incredibly cheesy!

I too am disappointed after hearing the new In Flames single...I will make the purchase of their new album as I have all their other material but with every new album release it seemingly gets further and further from the glory days. I always thought of Reroute to Remain as the album that marked the [huge] change in their sound/style/technique although I enjoy it a lot. I can and do find myself listening to newer In Flames at times, but it will never touch me as Jester Race, Whoracle, Lunar Strain do.

On the subject of other bands, I have been really impressed with The Shotgun Suicides - ex Enforsaken guitarist's project. Seriously awesome melodic death metal. Their studio album was just released in Japan and they also are shipping out free 3-track cd's of them covering:

    1. At The Gates - Suicide Nation

    2. Carcass- Embodiment

    3. Edge Of Sanity - Twilight

I look forward to receiving my copy

Yeah, I've got the Ghost Reveries 5.1 mix as well. Too bad I'm lacking all but left, right and centre speaks.

Ah sweet. I went to see the Dance of Death tour in Nottingham, UK. I had tickets to the Athens greatest hits tour, but had to sell the tickets close to the date due to exams. I regret it, even to this day.

    Powerslave is my favourite album.

Now we're onto my kinda metal!
Don't suppose any of you are going to twickenham in july are you? I saw them at earls court on the dance of death tour - my first maiden gig!
I simply can't pinpoint a fav. album - its one of Number of the beast, Piece of mind or powerslave, depending on what mood i'm in!

I also went to see ACDC in Sheffield in 2001 (I think it was). They were even better than Maiden live (and I like Maiden best of all on record)

Haha yeah I had to give 'em props. I'm probably gonna scoop up their album as well...also hope to get some more Enforsaken, as the only album I own is Embraced by Misery.
