haha, fanboy much? Beretta, fanboy posts are kinda frowned upon here. There are many games for the Xbox beyond halo.

You said you haven't even played an xbox, so how would you even know if it's good? Don't knock it until you've tried it kid.

I wouldn't expect you to know it, because obviously you're ignorant to anything related to the system. DOES IT HAVE RUMBLE?! WOW.

    I'll leave it at that.

This should've been the point at which you decided not to engage in the conversation. If you're that unfamiliar with this stuff then do us a favour and don't bother talking.

The whole thing about trying to fit an Xbox into a tower PC was pretty embarrassing.

People "look into" lots of things. I won't believe it until I hear it 100% for sure, and even if it does get ported with the amount of work needed 360 owners won't get this until 2010. Or fall 09 if they're working on it right now.

no, you can have an opinion. you can have a system of choice. but berating a console, when you haven't even played one, is beyond an "opinion".

example: I hate the PSP. Why? Not because I prefer the DS, but because of a lack of games that are exclusive, a piece of crap analog stick.

You never played halo. how is it generic? How it it unique? well, when it came out it was the first to have the "regenerating" health system in an FPS. the pacing as well as level design, are what separate it.

most of us here appreciate games for what they are - GAMES. And we appreciate each console here, for what they are. a console. we have our preferences - but we keep the immature fanboyisms to GameFAQs thanks.

What system am I a fanboy for? I have not "sworn by" any console in this thread. I don't like the xbox because I don't like their games.

How am I being immature? I'm stating an opinion. Opinions are neither wrong nor right, and everone has one.

Please stop trying to make me out to be a moron simply because you don't like what I said. I spoke my mind, and half this thread is berating or making me look like an idiot.

there might be a reason for that.

You, with no knowledge of the system, bashed it. That is an immature fanboy opinion.

I'm not calling you names. I said you made a fanboy statement - and I'm not the only one who said that. If I didn't call you on it - someone else would have.

and no one is flaming. Flaming would be me randomly calling you retarded or another name. I never called you a name, and no one is flaming you.

If you'd said something that evidenced at least a little understanding of what you were talking about, people would've been more receptive of your criticisms.

For what it's worth, I think Halo is an utterly generic FPS regardless of its "regenerating health system". It doesn't do anything for me at all. Regardless, it's kind of absurd to denounce an entire platform because you only play "good systems". Like that's some kind of objective marker.

sorry, but I've got to say it:

What is generic about Halo? What other shooter plays anything like Halo? If anything other shooters take elements from Halo. Really, find me a single FPS that plays anything like Halo, with equipment, vehicles, a grenade button, sticky grenades, unique weapons, melees, shields, blah blah blah. I don't care if Halo isn't your bag, but when you think about it, it's not really generic at all. If you read between the lines it has a deep storyline and a great setting. Opinions are opinions but seriously.

^(not directed at anyone, just saying)

The setting. How many times have I killed aliens with assault rifles? It's fucking tiresome, and I'm offically bored of it. The gameplay is adequate, but it's clearly based on other console FPS games - most notably, Goldeneye, which has most of the features you're talking about.

I'm not saying that similarity to other games is a bad thing, far from it. I'm just saying that the idea that the idea that Halo was some kind of revlution is daft.

name a FPS before halo that had an independent button for melees, and an independent button for grenades. Also the intuitive use of both analog sticks, it was the first of its kind to be done (though it was inevitable). And it's not just "shoot aliens" for the story line, what else is there to kill? humans? zombies? it's ALL been done.

Halo's storyline is fairly deep for what it is.

Deep as a puddle; and Metal Gear Solid 4 won't be relesead on X360 because Sony put money into it.

hmm... the Halo series has sold millions of copies because it's a generic FPS? it clearly has something special that's propelled it to these high numbers in sales.

Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Timesplitters, and even Perfect Dark Zero are similair games. How are they at all like Halo? They have a totally different feel to them, just like how they feel nothing like Doom and Quake. I think the only thing I can think of that Halo pulled from those classics is dual wielding of weapons, but Halo changed it by letting you carry two weapons of a different type. I mean, it's all your opinion that it's not that great and thats fine, but it really seems like you haven't ever given it a chance. Maybe you never will, thats fine. But seriously, I would like to think I have a pretty good taste in games, and I can't stand generic shooters, and I love Halo.

With the setting, all I have to say is that I have very fond memories of playing my cousins Xbox a few days before it came out (his uncle worked for MGS for a time) and playing The Silent Cartographer level. It blew me away. Halo had a great you against the world type of thing. I dunno. I think Halo is just a love it or hate it type of thing, but a lot of the time when you have people comparing it to something like Half Life, they have no idea about what Halo is. Halo is a very action orientated shooter that combines well with strategy and balls out gun fights. Thats why I love it. The single player really draws you in and makes you want to survive.

Oh yeah, if theres at least one thing everyone can agree on, Halo has excellent music. Nothing generic about that.

Probably the same amount of times you've killed germans with a machine gun, some demons with a shotgun, some non american force (normally shifty looking Eastern European or South American guys) with some kind of gun, lets face it there isn't really much else you can change without it looking stupid. Halo is a great game as it was the first fps console game to play well and not a port from the PC.
