Michel Ansel has found Super NES Rayman after 24 years

Ancel sent him the game, it got dumped. Id dump and release anything if a developer with that sort of standing wanted to send me stuff hah

 

Let's hope he googles Rayman SNES prototype, ends up here and read your message.

I've messed around with cheat codes but since only the one level is playable, I can't do any ram value comparisons with other levels in order to get a level cheat. Looking at the graphics in a graphics editor it looks like all of the graphics for the first level are uncompressed. The rest of the ROM seems to be compressed data that keeps repeating in this block-like pattern. I'm going to take a guess there might not be anything else in here but this one level, but it would be nice if someone more skilled could take a look.

 

Kudos to Ancel for giving the go-ahead to get it dumped and properly preserved. And kudos to Omar for being the chosen one.
More developers should take the extra steps like Ancel did this time to preserve development history rather than let it unknowingly fade away.

It's already interesting enough, but I am also curious to see if the ROM itself contains anything else hiding within that tiny databank. Most likely not, but hey, it's not every day a Rayman build gets dumped!
