I just fear that I'll have to experience more accidental viewings of nude (male) players... It happened with EyeToy... it happened again with LIVE Cam (UNO is a minefield) and I'm sure NATAL will reinvent the entire experience... gender recognition... hah. I bet someone will get their manhood handed to them!
It's not a been bad week if you like seeing unreleased hardware. Now it's M$'s turn with supposed pictures of the final version of Natal and the developer user manual. More pics and information over on Multiplayer.it (Italian to English translation). Design wise it's not changed much from the proto version, but at least this sort-of confirms a motorised tilt function and the need for its own PSU.
I don't even know where I would put that big of a thing. Can't go on top of the tv since it's too thin and it couldn't really go below since I have a speaker and my Wii there. If I were to set it on top of the Speaker or Wii it'd block a bit of the TV...
Its going to sell like bagels, MS cant be dumb enough to fuck this one up... Anyways, I still want to know: A-PRICE!!!1!!one B-Backwards compatibility with games not originally designed for Natal
It would be nice to know which devs and companies are considering making patchs for old games to be compatible with Natal.
Ah, well in that case probably not a whole hell of a lot. This is something we will hear in better detail at e3.
Being honest, what do you think will be the shovelware to actually-good-games ratio on Natal? If its anything like the Wii's then I'm not getting one...
does anyone still have the pictures from like e3 2000 or 2001 that showed the SAME EXACT motion controls? My friend doesn't believe me
Move. There was motion control demo for PS2 that was the almost exact same demo they used on the ps3.
There was some PS2 EyeToy tech demo that used a set of colored wands. I'm sure you, as people have already stated, can find videos of these sorts of things on YouTube. I know that several companies actually did their own experiments with things like this. Guess no one went all the way... Everyone probably dropped their work when the EyeToy didn't quite catch on as the next big thing.
1. I don't want to see my ugly mug in/on any game unless it's Perfect Dark with the Game Boy Camera and Transfer Pak. 2. I can't wait for Kidz Bop: Dance 3!
Actually if you look, there are even videos on the net of Dr Marks playing with a early version of natal (the tech comes from a company in Israel).
Microsoft has sort-of-ish confirmed that Natal will be released worldwide in October. I would assume that the pictures posted on Multiplayer.it (that have now been removed) would therefore confirm that was a near final retail design. So now we just need some decent pictures of the supposed slimline 360 that will be accompanying the Natal release. Mr. Blurry Cameraman needs to get on the case.
Back in 2002 I played a game at SCE London studio that used the similar wands with balls at the end for a possible harry potter game, you used the want to cast spells by drawing patterns or using strokes. It was quite fun although it had limitations. I suggested using a dance mat to give the player the option to move, duck or jump whilst using the wand (which was a stick with a LED coloured ball at the end...).
