Gundam. I also want to eventually buy TT2(U) but i've heard spotty things (latest ver of U don't need online but slightly older versions do and will stop working after a few weeks). -edit- I'm also fearful Taiko will require a net connection to run since that is how it gets it's updates.
sorry I get too lazy to type the full name out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taiko_no_Tatsujin aka Taiko Drum Master. The latest runs on either a 357 or 359. - update - http://taikotime.blogspot.ca/2011/09/new-taiko-no-tatsujin-song-list.html
@Shou This is very big news for and because of this I might be able to convince my local arcade to buy this. However, I need some extra info, is Tekken Unlimited a new board compared to Tekken Tag 2 or it is just a sort of software update? The main excuse our local doesn't want to is because the owner doesn't want to pay more in a per use bases after buying an expensive arcade machine. That and the always on internet requirement.
Neat, Did it work flat out or did you have to modify a few things to get that working? -edit- Have we found out what is the exact differences between the 357 & 359 hardware wise? Did they just up the mem or did they go further and upped the cpu clock?
No it doesn't flat out work like that. Problem #1: - 357 uses ancient version of XMB (2.51) and has NAND memory (NAND contains dev_flash, file system) Problem #2: - 369 has dev_flash on HDD (369 is NOR, not NAND) and since it cannot find it on 357 HDD it won't even boot (Well except recovery) Problem #3: - Games are HDD locked, you can only run the game from the HDD it came with. Problem #4: - Even if you miraculaously (it can never happen) manage to run the thing, it won't work because 369 has minimum FW of 3.40, so 2.51 cannot ever work. Differences between 357 and 369: - 357 is based on PS3 Phat - 369 is based on PS3 Slim So I crafted 3.60 firmware HDD from Tekken Tag Tourmanet 2 HDD, change game files around, patch the game files with a friend to work from any hdd and no-dongle. (There are dongle triggers in various things too, friend helped a lot since he is very pro with PPC assembler.)
In what way are the games locked to the HDD? I'm just curious. 1, 2 & 4 makes sense as it would be akin to making a HDD from an older ps3 work on a new fw ps3 with out data loss. I question if there isn't more then just that between a 357 and 359. Don't forget there is also a second variant of the 357 out there. Also i'm curious in the future to find out how you got around the dongle. Was the security baked into the elf or a sys lib?
Well the HDD check is based on ELF and a separate file that has the data it's looking for. Dongle stuffs I will keep as a secret for now. They are really complicated and there are more than single ELF in these games too. (Gundam has like 5 ELFs -_-)
Ummm. I don't really follow how that locks the game to the HDD (where cloning would fail). I can understand not wanting to give that info out. I wonder why the many elfs. I mean it doesn't seem crazy to me but I just wonder what each one does.
Jackalus is the guy who helped you australian ? we may have a comon friend Also, all those protections allways have the same issue : Get two copies of the same game and see for differences, thats all you need to patch
No. I don't know any reverse engineers from Australia. Your comments about the protection make no sense, how are you gonna compare about dongle checks. You can't wtf.
Todays progress is that Mobile Suit Gundam is bound to: 1. Dongle 2. HDD 3. Motherboard So the game only works with the Motherboard the game came with.
The first release? I find that odd if it holds up for the second since it was issued as an upgrade kit (I even have the box for it). (being locked to it's original MB)
