I'd buy the sticks, and since Tommo is like SNK FUCK NO we have a contract I might still have time to get them.
This is what's really annoying - the NGX should have been a decent system. You can basically think of it as an A320 but with 3 times the clockspeed and 4 times the RAM even if the code wasn't modified to take advantage of the enhanced instruction set and the GPU. Even though the display has nearly twice the number of pixels that the Dingoo did, it should still be at least as fast even with code that wasn't optimized for it.
Can't last a year on the market ! Epic Fail ! Now it's destined to be a rare shitty handheld in 5-10 years that no one gave a rats ass about lolz if I see one on clearance for next to nothing somewhere I might buy it but for now I'll stick with my 2 AES consoles
Neo-Geo was perfectly emulated years ago and yet they failed at everything - emulation, video output etc. No wonder that SNKP sees that thing as an insult for Neo-Geo.
What is the big hype with this system? Isnt it just a few built in games? Why the lord is it so expensive? The atari flashback has over 100 built in games for only $20 at Kmart...
It had built in games, more games were released for it, it was portable (the atari is NOT), it had TV output, and it had arcade stick support. The problem? They failed all on fronts.
Also the Neo Geo is a system that is still incredibly expensive on the secondhand market, while the 2600 is pretty easy to find in one form or another. Plus the games are much, much, much (goes on for a while) much more intricate and advanced compared to the excessively primitive 2600
Sticks are thin plastic cheap knockoffs. The ps2 ones are better made, plus get a ps to pc converter.
I did wonder if the PS3 Sticks would work in the NEOGEO X as they are USB as well? but On the subject of the NEOGEO X as a package I will stand up and say I like it. A company (quite small compared to many in the videogame world) took a chance and pushed out a product that was always going to be niche and I think that is to be applauded. Unfortunately the world of NEO GEO is so full of snobbery and bull shit that realistically it was never going to succeed. I understand and appreciate many of the arguments raised against the system however it seems a shame that so many people these days base their own opinions and purchase decisions on reviews from youtube instead of trying the system for themselves. Yes it is too expensive as an impulse purchase and the build quality is not as good as Sony or Nintendo would produce but that is the price you pay for a small company taking the reigns. As far as I am aware SNK Playmore did nothing to help towards this endeavour except take a slice of the profits/royalties yet they aren't subjected to any negative press at all. Perhaps they could have got involved more and quality controlled the product before release? As for the emulation issues that could be improved upon with updates and patches, the exact same things that 'proper' games developers have been doing for years now. Releasing a slightly sub standard product and improving it over time is something people seem willing to except now. The problem is if people queue up to slag off a product effectively killing it quickly the chances of it being developed or improved are slim especially one developed by a smaller company who may not have the resources to spend. My major upset is with the cost of the additional games as they still seem excessively priced but hopefully that may change. (but again we don't know the chunk that SNK playmore are taking per unit on the game packs either which may actually be driving the price up) Before anyone asks I did own an AES with several games but the reality is I would NEVER spend the thousands of pounds required to buy the really great games for the system so the NEOGEO X fits in perfectly with how I want to enjoy my games, legitimately and with hope that new systems and games can follow. The Dreamcast is my favoutite machine and if TOMMO said they were set to release a handheld version of it (which could happen from a business standpoint as they seem pretty close with Sega given their other handhelds) then I would take the chance on that too. Just an opinion as the discussion was pretty one sided I also apologise for my bad grammar.
I like it too. It's the closest I'm getting to an SNK console. I care not for emulating systems through others (for example, PSP for SNES, NG, MD etc....) I could never afford the Neo Geo games so this (as distant as it maybe) is the next best option for me at least.
I agree. My DSi XL with an iPlayer flash cart did NeoGeo better than this device with a nicer screen and better sound.
You do understand that this nasty console is emulating Neo Geo? It's no different than using roms on any other handheld device apart from any other device could do a better job.
Yes, I'm aware of that . The PSP can do it better, as can the DS and Dreamcast. I own all of those but, I don't own any SNK hardware and this is the closest/most legal way I get to 'real' (looking at least) SNK hardware.
