No clue but there were only a couple games that came on multiple disks, and most people have probably never heard of them.

Yeah. Most of the 2 or more disk FDS games I have seem to be hacks or pirate games. I got the "Complete NES and FDS game collection" from some ROM site. The NES folder was 237MB downloaded and after unzipping grew to 3.85GB and 16,385 (!) ROMs. I'm sure at least 2/3 are copies of different formats and such as well as god-only-knows-how-many hacked games. The FDS folder is only 19MB and 156 images. Gotta do some cleanup since I don't need 6 copies of 1 game...

Might be able to slap it all onto my 4GB Micro Drive since Nestopia needs no installation to run. NES on a Saltine Cracker sized HDD anyone?

The pins absolutely aren't chrome. They are probably aluminum or something like that. Something cheap. They grip "tighter" probably because the specifications don't match the original connector perfectly. They don't work more efficiently either. Too much force could damage your cartridges. I'm not a fan of the replacement connectors, they are better than nothing but they certainly aren't perfect.

YAGRS, the only reason you might want to have the lockout chip working is if, and I don't know if this would happen or not, cutting the lockout chip pin to disable it results in the CIC /reset signal from occurring on power up which would prevent certain cartridges such as the real Nintendo World Championship cartridge from working. But I've never heard if a regular NES unit with the lockout chip pin cut behaves the same in regards to providing a reset signal on the cartridge port.

I believe it was mentioned earlier on in this thread that the Nes Everdrive could be ready as early as the back end of this month or Feb. Seeing as how this month is nearly over, im gathering it's looking like a Feb release (or potentially later). Is there any more info on the progress on this? I dont mean to harass or rush anyone, but im sure im not alone when i say i cant wait for this to be released!!!!

Has krikzz said anything about whether he can offer a shell on the Famicom everdrive? Normally I'd just pull a shell from a junk game but I don't have many Famicom carts and I dont really want to mess any up.

i would really like a pre-made cartridge like everdrive 64 and willing to pay 15$ extra.

i can put the pcb into an empty shell but sd slot would look really bad if i carve myself.

I am buying an AV Famicom just to use the Everdrive. I look forward to see the Deluxe Edition from StoneAgeGamer too, I just hope that their new site is up and running before the Famidrive hits the internets :)

i have my sharp twin sitting around waiting for this baby to come.

when u say cheap chinese do u mean multi cart quality? I have had so many of them instantly snap under so little pressure.
probably sacraficing a cart seems like a good idea. still very hyped for this love my everdrive 64.

Will the Famicom/NES Everdrive include the ability to use the extra FM audio channels as the Twin Famicom system allowed, or is this above the ability of the everdrive...im guessing so?

The Twin Famicom allowed FDS registers to be accessed by cartridges?

No, cartridge does not have no access to FDS hardware. With twin fami FDS hardware disconnected from the system bus during system in cartridge mode

That's what I thought. I don't know why BlockABoots suggested that it did have access.

The FDS gets access to the Famicom CPU and PPU through the cartridge port. Having a game cart connected while the FDS RAM adapter is connected at same time will create signal cross talk, confused protocols, and other whatnot from 2 devices trying to communicate with a CPU that can only handle one communication stream at a time.

Would need something like a separate CPU in the cart to allow for the 2 to work together as one device as seen by the Famicom CPU.

That will also require custom software on the device end to run...
