You mean the fd support is not on board when you buy it? i'm not really into Famicom/nes stuff so i don't have clue about these cart *___*
Yes, FDS support and a number of other mappers including the expansion sound support was done by a 3rd party ( Loopy ) for the PowerPAK after development files were made available. If you look the PowerPak officially doesn't support the MMC5. However there is a 3rd party mapper file that is good enough to run some MMC5 games.
I don't know, you have to get Krikzz to answer that. He hasn't said what is or isn't ready, since the card is still in development.
Actually he did mention he had VRC6 support with expansion sound. But he has not mentioned FDS yet. FDS can be supported with an HLEed/hacked BIOS pretty easily. Most games use the BIOS for Disk Functions so you can hijack/rewrite those to load and write elsewhere. PowerPAK's FDS mapper does this I believe.
pardon me. when i said "av famicom" i tried to mean "the new famicom" or "famicom HVC-101". they look extra cool. though if i can't find one cheap, i will have to settle with the ones you recommended.
i remember he said it will be something about everdrive 64. it must be 100$ish which seems more than fair for me. i bought my AV famicom and getting ready for Everdrive NES.
I can tell a little about the Super Joy 3 Famiclone. It is more like the second Famicom that took regular Nintendo controllers plugged in. It also lacks the 15 pin expansion plug they had. The one I have ATM has a chip built in for the games as well as a Famicom cart slot on board. In theory the Disk Drive as well as any other cart slot based device should work but not the accessories that used the extra plug like say the 3D system. I've heard that the WIP Invite NES/ Famicom flashcart will work on most if not all Famiclones/ NOAC thingies if they have a cart slot or the proper lines to tie into.
Krikzz, is it possible to implement save states this time? Since some of the harder NES games don't have saves available in original state this would be a cool feature
some of the third party mappers out there for the powerpak supported save states. krikzz said that the famicom everdrive would support third party mappers so i guess save states will work for supported games using the right mappers. personally i would prefer increased compatibility over save states but your right about the insane difficulty with some of those nes games, they were very unforgiving indeed lol. maybe game genie support would help with some of the more impossible games.
