yeah, the only difference i could see were on the arm muscles and pants... it still looks great, though.
I think people really over do the "how many SF2" SF2, SF2:CE, SF2:Turbo, SSF2, SSF2T. There's 5. I don't think that's too many.
anyway, with this new furled classic all the charm is gone, the flair is gone, the ambiance is gone. anything what made SFII so special and valuable back then is gone. what keeps is a HD reincarnation of something nobody really needs.
I was thinking more how many different machines do Capcom need to release the original SF2 on. Oh it's in HD, big deal, the game is still the same. I am sure there are some indiginous tribes in South America that haven't played it but I am sure they don't need the old rope tied up with some pretty coloured ribbons.
Well, how many people like Street Fighter? Quite a few. The number of HDTV's being used is growing. Problem - Street Fighter does not only look like ass on HDTV, but plays like it too with lag. Solution - create HD Street Fighter. If there wasn't a demand for this to begin with, I dont think there would be an entire sticky on almost every Dedicated Fighting Game forum about HDTV's and why they aren't great for fighters but how to get the most out of it.
Hmmm I like the graphics as the only thing. But the sound effects are too "soft" meaning I still remember the SF2, SF2:CE, SF2:Turbo sound was raw, rough and hard and I really liked the "simple" music soundtrack the first three SF2 games had. And when I heard SSF2 and SSF2 Turbos sound, I was shocked. Since it has become poppy soft shite. This game´s sound effects in the kicks, punches and the commentators voice is horrible soft. "ken wins" WTF ? please give me some of the original sounds. Not this freak of SF2.
How many people like some better like StreetFighter 3 Third Strike, hmm maybe more. Yes, but proper gamers would still have a decent RGB compatable CRT for playing games on older consoles like that. In Japan I have a 20" RGB CRT and a 32" Sharp HDTV and I use both. Solution - You are aware that you can get lag on an HDTV even with the console running in the native resolution of the TV? It depends on the TV, I have a Sharp Aquos and it's brilliant and I don't feel any lag. Which leads me to my second point. Japanese PS3 with hardware emulation and use an HDMI cable. If you are a fighter fan then you would have most of these games on Japanese PS2. See above, again depends on the TV, most decent modern HDTVs have minimal lag even from Composite video signals.
No. Most people aren't even aware there WAS a street Fighter 3. Casual gamers especially. That's you. Most people have ONE TV and more people are placing their old TV's with HDTV at a growing rate. It's much less noticiable. This isn't FOR the hardcore fighter fan, this is for the casual market that played SF2 and want to again. Jamtex, get your head out of your ass and realize hardcore gamers are in the miniority. Hardcore gamers that import games or have ridiculous gaming set ups. This is marketing the rest of the fighter fans that play casually, which is majority of the market.
Well any fighting game fan knows 3s because its one of the most played fighters in tournaments. Also if anyone doesn't they will now with SF IV coming out there gonna wonder what happened to 3? :110: What a shame anyone can clearly see a major downgrade :/ Its really put me off this game now after seeing it in action today its just far too plain and things don't match up
SSF2T is still played at Evo. It never left the tournament scene. I would say that SSF2T is the "most played" at tournaments. However, yeah the animations just don't look right...I think they're matchng the same static animation that the original had but with the hd graphics it just doesn't seem right....
Downgrade? Either way it looks like complete crap, really hard to believe that Capcom is behind it.. Sure this isn't farmed out? I mean the art direction is HORRIBLE; it could have even been fantastic if they reused original SSFII art: http://www.system16.com/cybercade/images/ssfii_label.gif
This game got me down the second I saw the first videos. Talk about stiff animation! I've seen south park episodes with movements more fluid that those in SF2HD... Is kinda depressing to see that a NeoGeo game had more frames per second 12 years ago than this game does today. Dunno, it seems that we're never going to get top notch 2D in the mainstream, at least not in the west... No doubt, the differences in detail are way too many, and the more I ponder this the more I ask myself why we get this with the kind of tech available today.
To me, it looks like sheer laziness in doing another color version. Seems like they totally had to recolor it by hand, instead of changing the colors (somehow) on the finished first one. Though even then, the shape is different
As N7360 points out, it is more likely that proper fighting game fans will be playing SF3, go to a real tournament with real gamers like say Japan and you'll not go to see SF2T being played, in fact you won't see SF2T in the arcades, just SF3TS and SF2AE. I'm sure lots of gamers do have a HDTV, but if they have older consoles some will keep CRTs. But you just admitted there is... sort of negates your Yes it's not like they can't at the moment... What like a few import games and a decent stick. Next you'll be telling me that casual gamers will play the game on the Xbox 360 joypad and enjoy it... But you keep negating your arguements... Basically Capcom can see that if they lazily update an old game again with prettier graphics then they can get more cash for old rope.
Yeah, casual gamers WILL play with a 360 pad and enjoy it. As for your thread; you're asking on a hardcore gaming forum. We are DIFFERENT. Go to an electronics store, and ask the person how many people use HDTV's for all their gaming. You'll be surprised. Most gamers won't notice the lag unless it's a shoot'em up or guitar hero or street fighter. Negating my arguments? No. I'm saying playing an HD Console on an HD TV will have less lag than a old console on a new TV. You're missing the point that "Real Proper Fighting game fans" arne't the only ones who buy fighting games. Especially Street Fighter, if this was something like King of Fighters, then Yeah. But a franchise like Street Fighter sells to the less hardcore market. As for SF2AE (AKA Hyper Street fighter 2) being played more, you're right and that's only because it phased as SSF2T considering you can play as SSF2T characters and have their supers and chains.
