Like a month or so ago. There was one video in particular that broke the camel's back. I can't remember what it was, but it was obviously political in nature. It was all over CNN.
Yes, that's right. There were some videos posted taken during the riots in Lhasa last year where quite a few people died. Not to mention this year is the twentieth anniversary of the Tiananmen Square incident...and it becomes quite clear as to why they've banned it for all of us here. It is a royal pain, though...I never realized how much I enjoyed using youtube until, after a few times being banned they finally banned it completely. Wish I had a good VPN that didn't cost an arm and a leg. Then I'd be all set!
I've spent almost all of my professional life in Asia, and looking back now, about a 3rd of my total life here. China's cencorship still baffles me. EDIT: I Spent a lot of time reading on the Tiananmen Square massacre. I was only 14 when it happened, so didn't fully appreciate it. Man, fucked up. Anyways, I can forward you the video if you've not seen it yet. I assume you have, but if not, drop me a PM.
it's not, Ico and Shadow of Colossus were truly remarkable achievements and some of the best and unique games last generation. Trico will be the best ps3 title out there, definitely top three on the system. if you didn't like first two games, I can see you being "take it or leave it" guy.
The PS3 has plenty of great exclusives. I agree that people are getting a bit ahead of themselves, but the only 2 other games released by them are epic classics. So it is fair to say this is going to be great. :icon_bigg
I need to try out the full game of SOTC. I played the demo and just plain didn't get it, it also seemed to be chugging frame rate wise. It was the E3 demo in the PS magazine so I'm guessing it's just very early.
Personally, I think it would be awesome if they just released an HD SOTC with a solid framerate. As you said, it doesn't really affect the gameplay, but it's annoying visually - and SOTC is a lot about the visuals.
It was bad - but from an aesthetic point of view, it was an amazing game. Like ICO, I just keep coming back to it. Maybe once, twice a year - but I always go back to it, and it's still just as engrossing as the first time. Can't wait to see what the end result of Project Trico is!
MGS4 and LittleBigPlanet...and that's about it. There might be something on PSN, but I don't know about that, and to be honest I'm not all that interested in MGS anymore - I like games with actual gameplay.
Uncharted! And I wouldn't say that it's being anti PS3 just to point out that the PS3 isn't busting at the seams with games. Really, both of the systems have about the same offerings, but what will keep me away from multi platform games on the PS3 is the fact that they are nearly always a little worse in some way. If there virtually the same, XBL or PC wins me over. In that case it depends on what your buds have. It's kind of like Xbox vs PS2 multiplatforms. There wasn't a huge reason to play the PS2 versions over the others unless all you had was a PS2, if that makes any sense.
I completely forgot that Uncharted existed, I guess it's okay but not really something that would make me want to play it right now or something. Yeah, it's not really an anti-PS3 thing, it's just that not many of the PS3 exclusives interest me in any way. It's not like the 360 has had any exclusives I want to play in a long time either, especially since I think Gears of War is boring as hell. However, several 360 exclusives have been more interesting to me than PS3 ones (Mass Effect, Senko no Ronde, Crackdown and Ninja Gaiden II for example).
There are plenty of great games on the PS3. There are also plenty of great games on the XB360. Anyone saying otherwise is either a troll or ignorant to the library on each console.
The best game this gen: Valkyria. Wipeout on PSN is worthy of downloading as well, and I hate the idea of download-only games.
I basically bough a PS3 for Blu-ray and the expectation of a great Team ICO game. So far Valkyria Chronicles and Uncharted are the only games that exceded my expectations. Not a fan of MGS or platformers(LBP), every time I play GT5 prologue I get the urgue to play Forza 2 instead, and Killzone has decent but nothing to brag about apart from the graphics.
