This. Also, wait for 3DS to come in and clean house next year. It will be an exciting year for all three hardware companies. I can't wait to see what everyone brings to the table.
It's not the 50 million loss that I find shocking though. It's the fact they went from nearly 850million profit to that 50 million. That's nearly 1 billion USD!
No he doesn't (far as I know). He's already been banned for admitting pirating a Wii game to play on an emu because he felt pirating anything Nintendo is justifiable.
I don't think that's what they mean. The 50mil loss was the total income minus costs that happened during those three months. They still have an insane amount of money. Just sliiiightly less now.
They have improved in the last three months, the first quarter earnings (Apr to Jun, as figures are given for the last 6 months (Apr to Oct)) were a loss of 25.216 billion Yen or the GDP of Tonga or 311.3 Million Dollars....
Nintendo's mistake was to sell a TOY NOT A CONSOLE. And as a toy people bought it for a couple games. many wii users just bought the machine+wii sports and are happy with it...
judge always in a long term and future repercussions. Ninty will be the first to come out with a new machine after very little time. How will the public react?
Aside from the fact that I don't agree with you the Wii is just a toy, this was not a mistake. The Wii earned itself back long ago. And it's not exactly the case that the Gamecube did well...
hahaah oh wow Do you really have the gall to insinuate that defective consoles increased the sales figures of the PS2 by any demonstrable amount?
How is the yen so strong with japan's debt is beyond logic, but so is finances in general Anyways, is the "wii isnt a gamecube" bullshit again? christ, I thought it was pretty clear that both use the same PowerPC derivative but with different speeds, and the same with the GPU. Its an overhauled piece of 2001 hardware, deal with it.
Indeed. Both the Wii's CPU and GPU are based off of the Gekko CPU and Flipper GPU, respectively. Also, motion controls were originally being developed for the Gamecube. I still wonder whether or not the original Xbox could outperform the Wii if given more ram (hell, imagine comparing the DreamX to the Wii).
It could, considering it could run HL2 and Doom3 without sacrificies while the Wii could barely push a craptastic version of FarCry shows how powerful that console was However, a rebadged Xbox like the Wii would've been impossible, since the problem was the use of off-the-shelf PC tech that was already obsolete and going out of production at the time.
"Without sacrifices" isn't really true, since both HL2 and Doom 3 had slowdown. But it'd be interesting to see which would be more powerful...the CPUs are about as powerful, but the Wii's CPU is obviously more efficient. Dunno that much about the GPUs, but on paper they look kinda similar.
Sacrifices usually mean content or graphics getting cut to make the game playable at least, slowdowns dont qualify as a sacrifice but the consequences of getting the best graphics out of the existing hardware
I thought the same. I think only 2 or 3 games were not compatible for the later versions too right? The XBox is more powerful, hands down.
