Very cool, I have been meaning to do an RTL Gensis clone but sadly I have more money than free time these days so I just speculate about things on the internet instead.

I'll admit I don't know much about SFC hardware but I think getting him to dump the ROM along with the hi-res board scans would be a huge step forward. I would bet that this has the same number of layers as a standard SFC (however many that is).

I did some messing about a few years ago to add the YM audio core to Grégory's Genesis core, and then try to fix the two-player split-screen stuff. I managed to get the backgrounds working, but the sprites are still messed up.

This thread was started by the guy(s) who wrote the YM core. It's hugely over-precise though, so takes up more logic than the 68K, and won't even fit onto the Terasic DE1 with more than one FM channel enabled. lol

This is kinda frustrating since we're limited to 'guesses' with a perfectly good system cartridge that would give away much of the inner workings of the hardware, but all those observations done here are still pretty damn interesting.

It can not play PS1 software and no nintendo CD games were created for this prototype. In other words, it's useless!

If it was 100% working it could play Audio CDs... I also heard that Secret of Mana was being developed for this system and that a playable version was created.

It can't play MegaCD, Saturn, Dreamcast and Xbox 360/One games either :(

Can it play PS2 PS3 or PS4 games?

Sarcasm aside, I still am waiting patiently for any details regarding bios release as well as seeing if we can make expandable SNES roms.

Marvelous was originally developed for SNES CD, and they also made full video segments that wound up being unused n the final release as a result. There were screenshots of the video attached to a dev interview, but not sure if the video itself surfaced.

Would love to see that interview. The only one I can find is on an expired website.

I think that's the interview from one of the guidebooks. I have it packed away and can't get to it at the moment, but will do eventually if no one else has a link.

Spaceship Warlock and Chinmoku no Kantai were also supposedly being developed for the system.

Would be interesting to know who else had dev systems apart from Sony, Nintendo, and Square...

Apparently not because I have no idea how you did that. I'm assuming it's not just in regular google as every link to that same site I found told me the website expired.

    Thanks though

I was only teasing, but yeah - I basically just stuck the link into Google, then you can click on the tiny arrow below the link (on a desktop PC at least), then open the Cached link.

It doesn't work on every site, but most of the time. ;)

Some sites have settings that prohibit spider caching. One site I frequent is like this due to the amount of server load it brings onto the site. It often causes problems for the users as the server isn't the best, so we disabled pictures for guests as well as prohibit web spiders in order to have a lighter load on the server.

It's no good as something can get lost in the end, but for the amount of power it draws we would be okay with that.

It would be very polite of the owner, at least posting that he is still alive. ^^
