Thats a terrible idea. Retrobrite has been shown to be temporary in many cases, and it still hurts the plastic.

Nothing official has been found or they are keeping it secret. There are at least two homebrew games converted to run from CD, Magic Floor and Super Boss Gaiden. I'm sure they will try Super Boss Gaiden.

I been waiting for October 22nd. Hope they get it working. I kinda don't think the homebrew cd will work tho. The ISO was made for a emulator that was based on incomplete info about the SNES CD. I think they just dumped one of the chips so the emulation couldn't have been perfect.

Everything has been guessed from the BIOS ROM for emulation.

Why is Ben Heck being dragged into this? I mean, it doesn't need cutting up and shoving into a smaller case, it needs someone with a genuine repair ability?

Someone will let us know before then but it would be cooler finding out from a video rather than a tweet.

Anti climactic, they didn't get audio CDs to play properly (just static) and Super Boss Gaiden didn't boot.

"There is audio crackling from CD, Ben thinks the DAC is borked. He added there are two DACs, one for audio CD one for SNES. If you run a SNES cart and then play an audio CD, it'll stop the game sound and play the audio CD."

Wormetti: Did Super Gaiden Boss work on the Nintendo PlayStation?
Dieboldly: It did not. It will read audio cds but it just displays track information and the audio is just a bunch of static. Bad DAC maybe.

It was on display next to the US 64DD.

They spared no expense on the presentation, a blown up photo of the controller was attached to the display case with blue tape! :p

I didn't expect Super Boss Gaiden to work, though it's a bummer that the DAC isn't working. :/
    Thanks for sharing!

The SNES DAC works, just the CD one might be faulty. I don't know how hard it would be to repair or replace. The bad audio doesn't explain why the game didn't boot, I'm sure that can be figured out with some more reverse engineering and tests.

Don't underestimate him. He didn't start out with TBHS for element14, that's a relatively recent thing.

Plus... He probably has the bank to compensate the owner if he fucks it up.

How do you compensate someone if you destroy the only one of it's kind in existance?

A fruit basket and apology letter.
