Hahaha Brillant ! This is so cool ! Anyway, does anyone have heard how many joycon controllers can be connected to the Switch ? I guess that 2 sets of Joycon is the limit, and that the 4 player local mode will be done by olding only one joycon.
I played Super Bomberman R in TV mode with 3 other people, and we were all using sideways joycons. The booklet they gave me said the game supports up to 8 players though, so I see no reason why 8 joycons wouldn't be supported.
Damn Chief, you've played bomberman ! How was it ? Was the game good ? Was the controller feeling good ? Eight player mode is maybe possible with two systems. Connecting 8 joycons could be great, but by looking at the Switch patents, it seems that only two sets can be connected (2 left and 2 rights, or 1 left and 3 rights, or 4 rights, and so on).
Yes, have you not been keeping up with the thread? Damn, really? The info in this booklet seems to imply that the game has 8 player local multiplayer...
I have indeed missed your feedback about this unit. Pretty strange, as I have even posted something after you did. Thanks for your feedback anyway ! Do you know if Bomberman will be a downloadable game only ?
I don't think it's downloadable only, I saw box art in the booklet that looked something like this. It also said that the box art wasn't final, which is strange since Super Bomberman R is supposed to be a launch title.
Nice ! Hope it will really get a physical version ! Then it will be a total of 5 boxed games in shops on day 1. This isn't a big number of course, but there is a Zelda game in this line-up !
A new Bonk game can be awesome ! I love this serie ! But I don't think that it will happen, as Bomberman R probably only exists to illustrate the multiplayer side of the Switch. Bonk being a single person game, it will not be a priority for Nintendo or Hudson, unless they want to do a BONK's MEGA BRAWL BATTLE ULTIMATE CHAMPIONSHIP. Edit : On a more serious side, a beat'em up with Bonks caracters could be great
Got my Switch pre-ordered along with: LoZ: BotW Master Edition, Super Bomberman R, and 1-2 Switch. Regarding Nintendo's recent failures and the Switch: It seems to me that the true "gimmick" of the Switch is the HD Rumble feature (supposedly when playing Arms you actually have a feel for how much ribbon you have; or if the character uses chains you can feel the difference). I'm assuming 1-2 Switch is supposed to be the game that demonstrates this functionality (similar to Wii Sports and Nintendo Land), and this is where I think Nintendo is making a mistake. Consider: Wii Sports - Packaged with the Wii, simple enough for anyone to play. Nintendo Land - Not packaged with the Wii U; considerably more complex than Wii Sports. Seemed to be aimed at hardcore Nintendo fans. 1-2 Switch - Not packaged with the Switch; simpler than Wii Sports (supposedly you don't even look at the screen in this game)? Nintendo needs that hook at launch for the Switch (for the casuals), and I'm just not sure it's there. I dunno, I get the feeling Nintendo intends for 1-2 Switch to be a system seller like Wii Sports, but they really should have included it with the system if that was the intent. I'm curious to see how game developers outside of Nintendo react to HD Rumble (if it is everything Nintendo made it out to be). Nintendo is usually the only company that gets their gimmicks (see: DS, 3DS, Wii, Wii U), so I'm not sure how developers will feel about programming with HD Rumble in mind (putting an emphasis on vibrations to simulate the feeling of something seems like a non-trivial thing to do...). I think the Switch can go either way at this point; just depends on how well Nintendo markets the HD Rumble concept and how much developers buy into it. I don't think many people will care about the hybrid console/portable concept, but I could be wrong. Regarding Loz: BotW Master Edition: Could this have been handled any more poorly? I stayed up to watch the presentation and, since I have this thing called a job, went to bed when it was over. Apparently sometime between my doing that and my waking up for work (0200 CST if I understand correctly) Nintendo announces the Master Edition and then the retailers (which are only putting it up for pre-order online; not in stores) immediately open pre-orders. This is beyond idiotic, and did more for dirtbag scalpers than for Zelda fans. Part of me wishes Nintendo would give up on limited editions, because between this, Fire Emblem Fates SE, and the Majora's Mask N3DS they clearly have no frickin' clue as to of what they're doing. Regarding Wii U fans feeling screwed over: As a long time defender of Nintendo and the Wii U on this site, I will say that I don't feel particularly screwed over. What was Nintendo supposed to do? They got next to no buy-in from 3rd party devs on the Wii U, the Nintendo games alone weren't keeping the system afloat, and the general population didn't care for the "gimmick" (though I adore two-screen gaming). It would be unreasonable for me to sit here and expect them to keep throwing stuff at the Wii U given the situation it's in, and quite frankly I'm just happy Nintendo isn't going 3rd party so I can still enjoy gaming products from a company that's more interested in making gaming products than being the center of the entertainment system or bandwagon riding every gimmick that comes up. Nintendo makes fun games and they introduce interesting gameplay related ideas to their systems, and they seem like the only ones that do that, so I appreciate them and give them my business. Um... other than that... hyped for Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Mario Odyssey, and whatever that Squeenix game was. Oh, and more No More Heroes. And Arms, because it looks like Virtual On. Maybe Sega will make a new VO for the Switch or, better yet, remake VOOT with HD Rumble in mind. Mmmmmm... a resurgence of arcade-like twin-stick controller games would be fantastic on this console. The only thing that made me particularly unhappy in all of this was Nintendo announcing paid online services: boo Nintendo, boooooo! I was perfectly fine using Xbox Live to communicate with people while playing Wii U games with them online.
For me, they could fix it by making those free NES and SNES games for a month a forever deal, or at the very LEAST a guaranteed 2-4 games a month from the back catalog added to the switch equivalent of VC. I'd gladly pay it then.
When the rumors about the Switch hit the WWW, I was skeptical especially on the graphics front. Seeing that the mobility factor takes out the possibility to match/beat the Xbox One and PS4 graphics, my thought was that this system would be doomed from the start, because will 3'rd party developers even bother with an underpowered system? Now that everything is out in the open, I must confess I'm starting to see the potential of the Switch. Everything is switching to mobile, heck even Netflix offers offline downloads so you can keep on watching whatever you like when not at home. Microsoft has introduced "Play Anywhere" and Sony has it's Remote Play. And let's not forget about the streaming offers from Nvidia and companies alike. So what Nintendo did is just brilliant, you can literally play every game you have for this platform out of home. Truth be told the launch line-up is very meager, but looking back at the PS4 and Xbox One's launch line-up it's actually not that bad in terms of original games, at least in my opinion of course
