nameless hero, That's not the USA artwork though. The text is cut off by the gray on the left (USA the logo is on top of the gray) and there is no K-A rating on the cart. Google "Kirbys dream land 2 cart" for a picture. Importaku, Neat, I'll add the game to my future import list (still want to get Mole Mania & Crayon Shinchan 1 & 4). Ugg just had to rub your GB light in my face. =P Actually I would have a light right now if not for loosing out on 2 separate auctions on yahoo. Need to hold off for a month or two but will try again in the fall for one.
Indeed subbie, never even noticed that and the other small differences, like the grass on the bottom missing etc., good eyes! But now i´m even more confused... Maybe it is really a fake, weird... edit: Just opened it (had a "real" Nintendo screw), no Nintendo markings anywhere on the PCB, but a funky globtop, guess it´s safe to say it´s fake: Horrible pics from my damn phone... Thanks for your sharp eyes, subbie.
That would be sweet, I´m 99% it´s a pirate though, never seen a globtop on an original game. Here are two higher res pics, which are terribly grainy aswell: http://www.imagebanana.com/view/swti6bi7/IMG_20110707_180544.jpg http://www.imagebanana.com/view/2obt2dxn/IMG_20110707_180513.jpg The PCB is marked with 1998, one chip shows 1/1997, don´t think the game was still made then, except by bootleggers. ^^ edit: After some digging, i found one pic of a pirate Kirby´s Dreamland 2 on the bottom of this page: http://gameboyworld.weebly.com/bootleg-gb-stuff.html The logo is cut off aswell, but the grass-bottom is there, all on a cool lightblue case (which looks genuine, has the Nintendo Gameboy mark which mine has aswell). Too small to recognize the game code (dmg-...) unfortunately.
sorry to topicjack a pic of my slowly growing gameboy retro collection sorry for quality, used my dsi, too lazy to use my camera got mario tennis from a flea market for dollar thecart label has slight red tint to it :/ the import is pocket monsters midori (pokemon green) my first import ever.
=/ I used the GBC for a bit today. Not sure if it's a unit defect but when doing GB games there is an odd horizontal flickering (similar to seeing horizontal interlace flickering) that is really noticeable but when doing GBC stuff it's fine/not there. Is this just a flaw in the GBC when playing GB games? If so I think I will keep to the pocket for GB stuff. If it's a problem with my unit then that sucks since it was not cheap. =[ sagagdego11, You're not topicjacking, you're contributing. =P
The early Japanese GB boxes are beautiful, on par with the early Famicom games in style. Reduced to the minimum in size, tidy layouts, nice-looking on the shelf. Here's my JPN GameBoy % GB Color collection: The shelf shot, early "smallbox-games" on the right: These are all games released by Nintendo from launch to around 1997 btw, only missing Mole Mania.
AFAIR, there was no flickering with GB games in a GBC. At least i never noticed as a child with my sister´s GBC, she was equally pokénuts as me... It´s been a long time though. Definately weird, that GBC games don´t flicker on your unit... edit: Holy maccaroni that are many boxed games!!! Beautiful collection.
Mmm. Will need to post some pictures later tonight of my current collection. ave, Great collection and awesome that you have "For the Frog the Bell Tolls". What did you think of the game? Also yeah mini boxes are great, I have two ATM (Crayon 2 & 3) but I don't think I will get others since I'm not looking to collect, just looking to have a reasonable pile of GB/GBC cards to play when ever. =) It's hard for me to say if it's normal or not. When I had a GBC it was only for MGS and after I played the crap out of it I got rid of the system (was hard core into NGPC at the time). It's just kind of odd since I can really notice it but I can usually spot this issue in some other devices as well. Maybe I can try recording some footage this weekend to see if that picks it up. I could just be overly anal.
To be honest I haven't played it yet. I have no access to my games since about the end of May and I got it only in April. Zelda's not my favourite and because Kaeru it's rather similar I didn't bother playing it yet. When it comes to GameBoy, I'm more for puzzle & platformer games, like Picross, Donkey Kong, Kirbys, Mario Lands, Contra, Castlevania etc. By the way, Qix and Quarth are some great puzzle games. Picross is absolutely amazing either, and has a GREAT variety of different puzzles. I solves the first 200 but then I gave up (for now!) because it became too boring. Must have spend 20hrs on this game in a mere couple of days, heheh. Quarth is awesome, also available for the Famicom. A great mixture between Space Invaders, Tetris and Puzzle Bobble I'd say (althought Puzzle Bobble did not yet exist).
I have a really dumb question. I have a GameBoy Advance SP, can this play GameBoy & GameBoy Color games as well? I don't know where my two GameBoy games are or I would have tried it. I ask because I think this is a good idea to get back into the GameBoy games I have Pokemon Red and Top Shift if I ever find them. I ask because I think this is a good idea to get back into the GameBoy games. For me every game except for the two I mention would be a new game. Are the Zelda's any good, I'm a big Zelda fan. :/ =Hugh
Yes, it can also play GB/C games. I´m not big into Zelda but i read Zelda Link´s Awakening is a pretty good game, on par with the SNES ones.
SP is compatible. The only systems that aren't are GBA Micro & DS/DS Lite. Zelda DX is great and I think worth a play. Hell I was playing it a few weeks ago thanks to the downloadable release for 3DS systems. Ave, Ah, When you get your games maybe give it a go. It's a little less action based then zelda and is an interesting game. Mario Picross i've played before and love. Actually a huge lot of 200 games heading my way has Picross in it.
time for me to add pics. This is my collection atm. I technically have much much more but it will be a month before the 200 game lot shows up (sent Surface mail from japan due to size/weight).
Yeah I saw that on gaf recently. Debating if I will abandon ship on the GB cart version for playing the trans patch on my PSP. I like playing on my GB but I'm kind of suck at the moment and I haven't found an walk through for the game. =(
Play it on a flashcart and get the best of both worlds? I've beaten LADX god knows how many times and I never knew that this game came before, so I'm super hyped to play it! Just gotta find my flashcart, I have no clue where it went. :crying:
I don't have a GB flash cart. =/ I too have played loads of LA (both DX and non) for years and I didn't know about this game till recently. When I decided to go buy crazy I snagged up a box copy off yahoo auctions (see pics above). =P
<Begins Friendly Upsell> My friend, that begs the question: Do you want one? (^_^); I have coming in from China a PS1 Expansion adapter with GB port + Flash card. You can simply write ROM images to CD-R and flash them to card using your PS1. You could flash all the home-brew and translation patches you want with it. No need for a PC or messing around with a parallel port. </Begins Friendly Upsell>
I got one of these about a year ago specifically to play translated games, and it hasn't failed me yet! http://www.nonelectronics.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=112
